So for Big Sur, you are fine understanding that it is a region bigger than the city within, but for Monterey county, which has coastline that includes Lone Cypress, this is a non-starter. Got it. They didn't call it "Big Sur Region," but somehow you figured it out, maybe there's still time. Pat on the back to all the people in the thread that feel superior knowing that the tree is in Pebble Beach and that nullifies a user-submitted photo from the Monterey Peninsula, in the town of Pebble Beach, which is part of Monterey County.
I edited my post above with a correction. It's not that I don't understand the purpose behind it. I just feel it's more about the spirit. No one who lives in the area pictures Lone Cypress when thinking of Monterey. That's the only point I'm really making.
