dont have a desktop pictures in my user folder, only system. would creating one work?
Try it! I'll see if I can dig up where I bought the other dynamic wallpapers from - it was from a thread on this forum a few months ago (it was an Aqueux pack, if anyone remembers?).

Edit: This was where I bought the pack - looks like they come with an installer, that must have created that folder for me? That's all I have in it (the new Monterey .heic at the end there).

Since upgrading to Monterey, my desktop pics section of the sys prefs has several 'cloud' icons on top of most of the pictures. when I click on a picture with a download cloud icon, nothing happens.

Click the actual cloud. Basically, they got rid of the photos but they show up like undownloaded, purchased music does. You need to download the individual photos (by clicking the cloud/download in the corner), then you can set them as desktop pictures. Apple has generously saved us all about 50 MB of space on our computers. haha.

Cmon Apple, you name your OS releases after places in California, one of the most varied and beautiful natural landscapes in the United States, and give us this abstract crap?

Old wallpapers were even Steves photographs! The least you could do is give us some eye candy!

I have a feeling the look was changed to reflect the iosification of the operating system. Frankly I am surprised they even kept the Monterey name. But I agree with you. They should stick to the California landmark thing until they run out of them. Then they can start doing the rest of the country.

“Today we reveal Mac OS Grand Canyon, and we think you are going to love it.” ?

Nice try guys but, it seems to be changing according to the time in California, 8 hours behind my time in Spain.

When the sun goes down here I'd rather see that reflected in the "dynamic" desktop. I'm not interested in seeing midday in California when it's early evening in Madrid.

Unless I can find a fix I'm going back to Apple's abstract dynamic Monterey. I've been using it since the upgrade and don't dislike it.

Quoting myself, but I fixed it. The easiest thing to do is just drag the dynamic file into /Library/Desktop Pictures. Any .heic files in there are added to the dynamic desktop panel in System Preferences.
@Aggedor, I tried this, but can't locate a folder called named /Library/Desktop Pictures. Am I missing something? I have the brand new MBP 16" w/ M1 Pro.

Wow! Nice job. Looks like they went all out. Craig is very big on when it comes to the wallpapers. I’m sure he will be very happy with this.

Apple why don’t you hire them? We need more wallpapers for Mac OS and IOS, please!

As silly as it sounds, I asked Apple to add a Apple wallpaper app or just for them to add all wallpapers to the existing app/setting. Maybe update the app every season with new wallpapers. I never did hear back but I did receive an anonymous call shortly after the email went out that featured a hearty laugh then a disconnect.

They're late on the ball.

Nature wallpapers are on the way out and Apple is going back to retro patterns like we had from 10.0 Cheetah to 10.6 Snow Leopard.

South of Monterey. It's like if there were to be a MacOS Cupertino and someone posted a picture of San Jose City Hall.
So ya'll were equally upset that Big Sur wasn't a photo of the town of Big Sur that has zero coastline, right? Right? Cuz this is the absolute dumbest argument people seem to want to have today.

How would you know how upset I was? As a native to this beautiful coastline, I feel it's important that each designated area gets its proper designation and appreciation. But for your information, the stock photo was of the Big Sur coastline. Lone Cypress is not located on the Monterey coastline, which itself does have some beautiful sights.

Edit: I may have misspoke here. Technically, any coast along the Monterey Peninsula can be considered the Monterey coastline. But still, I enjoy complaining about the particulars.

It is a Monterey Cypress though.

So for Big Sur, you are fine understanding that it is a region bigger than the city within, but for Monterey county, which has coastline that includes Lone Cypress, this is a non-starter. Got it. They didn't call it "Big Sur Region," but somehow you figured it out, maybe there's still time. Pat on the back to all the people in the thread that feel superior knowing that the tree is in Pebble Beach and that nullifies a user-submitted photo from the Monterey Peninsula, in the town of Pebble Beach, which is part of Monterey County.

Edit: And on top of it all, the photographers were trying to find something worthwhile for people to use as a fun project.
