This is a game of chicken between Xi and Trump. China’s economy cannot withstand these tariffs and the U.S. President will lose domestic political support if it drags on too long. Let’s see which blinks first.

Either way, hopefully Apple and others will accelerate their manufacturing diversification efforts. China is NOT going to change their hostile trade and IP theft tactics.

Agree with you but this community will scorch you for not supporting AAPL. Have to have a a bunch of shareholders or people who really love Apple or Tim Crook.
Shareholder here. I’ll take some short-term pain if it forces Apple to diversify out of China. All China does is steal IP, give it to domestic companies and flood them with government money, then they begin to go after the foreign company via fines and lawsuits while undercutting them and threatening to limit their manufacturing. They have been doing this for decades now and American businesses are screwed, and those are the FEW they allow into the Chinese market.

At least Apple has been diversifying where it builds plants. Now (or soon) spread over several countries. With each country it brings Apple some key advantages like skilled workers and better access to markets to sell their products. They've even been doing a bit more in the US. It's definitely not a good idea for them to rely heavily on China but it's equally not wise for them to fully leave China either. This is good for Apple and even for the US in indirect ways.

Nothing surprises me anymore from the Orange Biblical Anti-Christ 💨 🚬😫
We are NOT Safe. I don’t think we will even see the iPhone 17 be released this year nor even GTA 6.

It seems odd that the US actually wants to largely destroy a key American company. I don't think they should be trying to harm any companies or people but to work hard to harm American companies just seems wrong.
The US isn't destroying Apple. Apple will simply add the increased costs onto their products.

exactly. That's a problem
At the end of the day, I don't really care. People in the U.S think they're poor... In reality, people in poor countries can't even afford the most basic iPhone, while most people here own one.

The current Congress won't. They are too scared to defy him. All we can hope for is that more people come to their senses and vote Dem at the next congressional elections on November 3rd 2026. Until then, IT'S CHAOS!
Can business and the people last two years is the issue...

Section 301 of the Trades Act of 1974 gives POTUS the ability to do exactly what he’s doing.
Yes, and Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution states that “[t]he Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises.” Nowhere in the Constitution is the delegation of Congressional power permitted. The Constitution is a document of enumerated powers. The government was given, by the People, the powers, and only the powers, outlined in it. Congress delegating powers to other branches, and even worse, to unelected Administrative agencies - is unconstitutional.

Wow. It's almost like they know what they're doing and are simply doing this to affect teh stock market for personal gain. What next? Selling cars on the front... oh.
So when Trump drives a Cybertruck on the White House grounds - he is a bad guy. But when Biden drives a Ford Lightning on White House grounds - crickets?

I’m not about to defend Harris, but she only lost by 2.3 million votes out of 150 million+. That’s not a “wide margin.” Plus, she became the Democrat candidate in July, giving her just a few months even to build a campaign. The fact that she still only barely lost is far more a sign of Trump’s weakness and lack of a mandate than anything.
The rest of the world sees she lost because the US is racist, sexist and apathetic about voting.

You were offered a positive message by two younger candidates and you didnt turn out to vote.

This is what you got. He warned you. He was coming for retribution.
He'd stacked the Supreme Court last time. The pieces were set in place.

All you needed to do was to be sucked in by his hoopla or just not care enough.

And that's what happened.

Now the whole world is paying.
Who would have thought China would turn out to be the possible good guy in this and be the ones to stand up to him?

Hahahaha. Hilarious. Vote for people that want to make the government bigger again?

Vote for people that think women’s sports should be destroyed? Or people that want to pack spending bills with “pork”?

Get real and don’t vote ever again.
MAGA:
Make America WHITE again!
Make America MALE again!
Make America STRAIGHT again!
Make America CHRISTIAN again!

No tolerance for anything else!

Ah well, I was planning on not buying anything much for the next year anyway, since I've been overspending on tech, cameras, mechanical keyboards, and fountain pens. Hopefully the current administration will all be in jail for contempt of court, and we can go on with our lives.
Or more likely at this point you will be living under a dictatorship because noone stood in his way.

He did say you wouldnt have to worry about ever voting again... and people thought he was joking...

This does seem to be definitely true, given that the Constitution was framed so as to carefully divide and separate the powers of government.

More like between the people who live in the US and Trump.

China is NOT going to change their hostile trade and IP theft tactics.

As opposed to the US, where the current President is maliciously playing yo-yo with the world economy?

And as for hostility on the world stage, the US is the top hostile actor.

Both of those things sound much better than destroying our economy with tariffs and shredding the constitution by ignoring federal judges and deporting those who are here legally without due process. Just today he mentioned sending "homegrown" Americans to El Salvador!

But yeah, we saved women's sports which you totally definitely cared about before Republicans threw a fit about it.
