Congratulations Trumpers, you played yourself.

Sorry kids, but if you can't compete with other countries fairly, you don't deserve to stay in business. There's no faking it in economics. If you try to fake it by protecting bad unprofitable industries, you end up like Venezuela.

The goal of economics should always be efficiency. If that means letting a Chinese person do something because they can do the same thing for cheaper, LET THEM. Americans will find something else to do that takes advantage of their skills.

If you think a person in China is your competition, then you have already lost.

Wow! Where to start. Do you really not have a clue as to the importance of domestic production of basic commodities like steel and aluminum? Let’s take your scenario to its logical conclusion. Because foreign companies like China can produce steel cheaper American steel companies cease to exit. Now comes a global political crisis, like say China invades Taiwan. To keep us from interfering China threatens to stop steel shipments to the U.S. China is also a major source of rare earth metals that are used in technology like jet engines, smartphones, rockets, etc. China is not our ally.

All this article and photo makes me think is: "I would totally buy a polished stainless-steel body iPhone."

If a Trump wants to tax products entering his realm then be prepared for US products being taxed more entering other countries.

But your pal Bernie Sanders loves it...

This has nothing to do with Bernie. It's totally about the current President of the United States not understanding how the Tariff Process works. It does not have to simply be about Trump. Other presidents required schooling on hundreds of procedures. The problem is the spouting off at media events without having the knowledge to do so. This is a know issue with this President. :apple:

They already are. Most countries have heavy taxes on US products coming in.
I had a co worker visit from China last year, and she bought 2 iPhones here in the USA since they are heavily taxed in China. She actually bought a few suit cases just to haul back all the things she bought here that bear heavy tariffs back in China. The same is true for many other countries. Try buying a US made motorcycle overseas or even a Chevy car.

"he promised that it will remain in effect for a "long period of time.""

3 years max I'd say Donny-boy, and maybe way less depending how that pesky investigation of yours goes.

So the headline of the article states “Trumps planned tariffs...would likely apply to Apple products” then concludes that they would have no effect. Just another article to rile up the resistance.

The reality of these tariffs will most likely result in more $50 per hour jobs in steel mills in the USA.
The real reality is that most US steel mills are mostly automated. No jobs to be gained, as always, Trump policies are about the owners not the workers. Also like usual, Trump policies leave the US worse off not better off.

For some, I guess it's OK if other countries like China tax the hell out of our steel, yet expect us to import theirs duty free. This kind of one-sided nonsense has to end. The US should match the tariff rate off each country that we do business with. That's the best way to encourage free trade. They get the same deal they give us.

And shame on Apple for using imported steel for the Mac Pro, when they could buy locally. That's going to end,

The U.S doesn't produce enough steel for its own needs. Is apple prepared to pay a higher price for u.s produced steel - because thats whats going to happen: its going to be a bidding war.

The biggest question is whether the impact on Apple's profit margins would lead the company to raise the prices of Macs and iPhones, but given the company's costs are only estimated see a marginal increase, it would seem unlikely.

I see we've progressed from Homepod user guides to Comedy Club!

Where is this President School you talk about? Did Obama go to it?

Sorry but no. Are you getting your news on Fox? According to Gallup, Obama never went below 40% in the 8 years of his presidency. Trumps last 2 results were 37 and 39. But Obama spent time in as high as the 60's. Something Trump will never do.

He’s referring to the Rasmussen poll.

You mean the Rasmussen poll, which consistently gives Republicans and Trump higher numbers than all the other polls? Cherry picking results to try and offset the fact Trump is the worst President in history?

Andrew Jackson may have a slight lead. For now...
