Saw this problem when Apple started to make colored iPhones. Used to be one iPhone with only storage size being the difference. They you had different carrier models plus storage size. Then color, carrier and storage size. Then physical sizes, color, carrier, and storage size. Then old models, se, color carrier and storage size. Now two new flagship models, physical size, old models, se, color, carrier and storage size. Watch is even worse.

I wonder what Steve would say if he saw this.

Think he would let Tim do this?

I don't really care that much about any of the phones and my 7+ is still great.
Also why would you bother lining up? They have been on pre-order and I can't remember the last time I actually bought a phone in store.

Is it still exciting to say 'I got the new iPhone 15 minutes before you did.........'

Could be worse. I worked for Apple when Verizon first got the iPhone.

I had to setup the displays and get the store ready for want Apple said was going to be a major launch. I had to plan the thing at our store. I spent all night making sure everything was perfect.

We dropped the curtains and there were 4 people at the mall wanting to get iPhones on launch day for the Verizon iPhone. And things didn’t get significantly better over the day.

Still one of my favorite iphone launches

What wrong apple now ???

comapring 5 yrs ago launch day much better than now
, i thought this is black friday launch not iphone launch

:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::):apple::):)

Maybe if it wasn't so expensive maybe more people would buy it, especially when considering the iPhone X is coming soon. Oh, wait...

I wonder if it will turn out that Apple has underpriced the iPhone X. If the backlog grows to historic lengths, Apple will be kicking themselves for not pricing the X another $100 (or more) higher and creating even more separation with the iPhone 8.

I agree the overall design is a tad dated, it is now 10 generations old, and although it is a great brand, the iPhone sadly is not a Porsche... It is still with a bump in tech, still really the same 1st generation iPhone that made Apple...The same lack of some sort of user installed external storage, the lack of headphone jack, yes the camera may be better, but the lack of storage renders this somewhat confusing.

The colours are not exciting, the phone is just that, a phone, no new shiny apps, nothing to really excite the consumer..I am waiting to see the car crash that will happen sadly in Trumpland when the police use the X against a suspect...Then the lawsuits fly...

Apple has lost the art of innovation, this is simple technical updating and that is boring, most Apple products are basically rehash dog-pooh served as something nice, but basically turd!!

Lmao omg I remember the Verizon launch stories! I really thought it would be huge. iPhone had been out almost 4 years was finally releasing on another carrier. A carrier with millions of subscribers, yet.... Lines are non existent. I was surprised.

Oh wow. The type of people who line up for a new iPhone aren’t lining up for the lower-tier model? Huge surprise!!
But how many are being delivered tomorrow. I have 7 iPhone 8 Plus coming to work tomorrow. Upgrading from 6s Plus's. I'm only going to the store in the morning to pick up my Watches since I could get faster there then delivered. Apple stores are also prebooked online now in most places

Waiting for iPhone X myself. I like Face ID and hope it works better the Touch ID. Having a dirty/wet thumb can cause a problem.

Hahaaaa, they look embarrassed to be there. Lol. And what happens when the lines for the X are also bleak? You're only assuming everyone is waiting for the X.

Hahah I was thinking the same! Honestly they do look embarrassed. I truly believe that there will be lines for the X. I would bet money on it. It's expensive, but people want it. Don't just go off of forum/social media comments.

Happens when you build up pent up demand for a product by keeping an ugly design for 4 years straight.

Apple are saying boo hoo..we don't give a turd about what you think, We think this is the best..Take it or leave it...The phone was boring after generation 2....There is nothing stopping Apple from innovation, why not create a new form of SD CARD?? That is the Steve Jobs we miss.. Tim is dull, Jony has never had an original thought in his life....The minions just say yes sir...

Steve would have thrown the iPhone x in the river.. He would not have sanctioned it..The same with the imacs, the MacBook pro and MacBook laptops, the trashcan mac, all garage...all dog turd design...nothing great about them..underpowered, stupid designs!!!

I'm not at all surprised. The iPhone X is more anticipated than the 7s...oh sorry... 8.
First (true) redesign in 4 years... of course people want the X.

This will just make $1,000 the new starting price, effectively.

The iPhone X will be the one folks are planning to wait for, but when they find out they'll probably have to wait until 2018 to get one, they'll "settle" for the iPhone 8.

I am still rocking my iPhone 6 Plus and debating whether to wait for the X or just get the 8 Plus. Or just keep with my 6 until it fails (since my AppleCare just expired).

Stay with the 6, save your money and you'll get a much better iPhone next year. I've been in the same boat, really wanting to like one of the new iPhones, but nothing has really wowed me. In the end I've decided there are better things to do with the money this year, and next year I will be more impressed.
