The upgrade turned on closed captioning in Spanish on one of my ATV-4Ks.
Guess that’s going to be a problem for me since all secondary users on my Apple TV are my accounts for different country’s app stores…glad I haven’t updated yet.The only thing I noticed is now my secondary users have to “update their Apple ID” by holding their phone or iPad with OS16 close to the device.
Problem is one of my users only has an iPad and iPadOS 16 hasn’t come out yet. Good work, Apple.
This only happens if you have “match frame rate” enabled in your Apple TV settingsThe only thing I noticed is now my secondary users have to “update their Apple ID” by holding their phone or iPad with OS16 close to theMy parents use YouTube daily and are not experiencing this.
I keep warning people around here NOT to listen to Apple CS or posters and go through a full RESET. That is almost always a total waste of time. A restart is often a good idea, but a full RESET means you have to re-enter a lot of information and re-sign in to a lot of apps, and even reinstall many apps. To restart, simply unplug the ATV for about 20 seconds then plug it back in. Chances are very high that the issues we are seeing currently are tied to tvOS 16 and not to our ATV devices, so a RESET will do nothing for that anyway.Update
I tried restarting.. No help. I wasted even more time doing a factory reset.. No help. I joined the beta program to report these issues. Time to contact Apple!
Very frustrating...
My Sony TV started doing this after I upgraded to tvOS 16. On the AppleTV, I have Match Framerate turned on, so I'm used to a very slight pause when the TV switches frame rates. But now this occurs every time I start watching a new YouTube video. Like every time, which never happened before. Hopefully an app update will fix.YouTube is as sucky as ever, perhaps even worse. Even before tvOS 16 it was screwing up when it transfers from ad to video content. The screen would go black and sometimes the first second or so of the content would be lost. That started recently under tvOS 15.6, but it was even worse last night with tvOS 16. Just one more reason to use the YouTube app on my Sony TV or the one on my Fire TV Cube. This YouTube war between Apple and Google is ridiculous!

Wonder whyThis only happens if you have “match frame rate” enabled in your Apple TV settings
Have this, too. It appears, based on what I'm seeing on my LG C1, to have to do with flipping on and off of Dolby Vision for content matching. YouTube seems to be trying to abide by the content matching rules when it really can't or shouldn't. YouTube and Dolby Vision content matching never really seem to have played nicely before and sure aren't now. I haven't fully tested to see if I am right by the by; just going off the notifications I see.YouTube is as sucky as ever, perhaps even worse. Because it is matching the frame rate. It's working as intended.Wonder why
that really doesn’t explain why I have to “update my Apple ID” in order for the Apple TV to do frame rate matching.Because it is matching the frame rate. It's working as intended.
What we are saying about matching frame rate Apple TV setting is in response to the poster who said “My parents use YouTube daily and are not experiencing this”. It has nothing to do with updating Apple ID.that really doesn’t explain why I have to “update my Apple ID” in order for the Apple TV to do frame rate matching.

Oh thanks. Not sure why they quoted my post.
If you set your output format to 60hz and not 59.94, you can leave frame rate matching on, and it will not switch as often. But if you don't have Premium, then you will likely get switching for ads.So I guess users should be DISABLING Match Frame Rate now on their AppleTV?
I have to say apple isn’t what it once was regarding software updates
