So I have the choice of either keeping my outdated large phone, switch to a faster, but smaller one or spend a lot of money on a foldable phone. Why can't there be at least one manufacturer in the world that still produces large non-foldable phones?
You could try the iPad mini. Some people use it as an iPhone replacement. Phone calls are possible using a separate service/app.

The 14 Pro has better battery life than the 14 despite having an always on 120hz screen and the same sized battery. That tells me that the A16 is more power efficient than the A15.

The 13 Pro Max had way better battery life than the 14 Pro Max does, so I don't think it's that simple. Even turning off the always on display, I used to get 2 days out of my 13PM, but I only get a day and maybe a morning on my 14PM.

The 14PM definitely gets hotter too. Not to the point that it ruins my day or anything, but I definitely notice it.

Can you imagine, if the iPhone 14,1 was an iPhone 14 mini (the same as the 13 mini but with 6GB of RAM, crash detection, Bluetooth 5,3 and so on) and Apple discontinued the iPhone 12, 13 and 13 mini…
I was wondering if maybe the 14,1 is a USB-C version of the 13 mini. Because if they don't make one, they'll have to discontinue it, at least in the EU, where the mini is slightly more popular than elsewhere. I'm not holding my breath, but who knows.

The degradation of battery health of my iPhone 14 Pro was obviously quicker than previous generations. This happened to some of my friends using the 14 Pro too. Not to mention the numerous accounts on Twitter..uhh X. Maybe this really has something to do with the battery quality, or a combination of both.

Had my 14 Pro from day one and 11 months on battery health is still up at 97%. I suspect your phone may have had other issues beyond the A16 chip itself.

AFAIK, they still have one more year to adapt the lineup to USB-C in Europe, although I think in Arabia now they are required to do it as well and maybe they won’t wait as long.

But yes, overall I think it would be nice to make a clear-up of devices, provided that all of them have an A15, and leave a mini with USB-C (preferably with the internals of the iPhone 14, i.e. A15 with 6GB of RAM, Bluetooth 5.3) and the iPhone 14 with USB-C as well. Then the 15 and 15 Pro.

However, maybe they want to keep the 13 one more year around to have a lower entry iPhone.

The pill cutout looks dated. Screen without any cutout is the way now.
Every solution has pros and cons. I think its important to look at what they are.

* Does the screens without a cutout identify a face just as secure and good as the pill cutout and in every scenario?
* How much more expensive is such a solution?
* Whats the quality like when using it taking pictures and with Facetime compared to the current solution?

Or maybe they both are SE versions?
Refreshed iphone 13/14, one mini and one regular size branded as SE with USB-C.

From what I have observed, my 14 Pro Max having Sunwoda made battery is still at 100% health after 8 months and my wife's iPhone 14 Pro with Desay made battery is now at 88% in 10 months. It's anecdotal but I believe it's the Sunwooda batteries that have lasted better health-wise. My previous 13 Pro Max was also having Sunwooda battery and it had 98% battery health when I sold it after using it for around 1 year.

Check the battery manufacturer using 3uTools on windows or Coconut Battery app on macOS.

Yes, an interesting twist indeed. So far it looked like Apple dropping iPhone 12, 13 mini out of their lineup this September was almost guaranteed.

I can imagine that Apple could give a current 13 mini fresher inner components, along with the USB-C port. However, the real question would be why would they? I mean we, mini lovers, are a great bunch and all, but will these updated minis do better for Apple sales-wise than 12 and 13 did? I guess the supply chain would also pick up a sudden increase in smaller panel orders from Apple, if this was the case. Besides, the battery life would still be “meh” and it would still heat up more than its bigger siblings. Whether we like it or not, a 6.1” screens have effectively become a new “small”, if you consider Android camp as well. So most websites and apps are optimised for 6.1” and larger screens.

It also seems quite unlikely that Apple would lower iPhone 14 down to SE level, as it is still a very performant iPhone that could sell for a 100$ less than a regular 15.

But yes, I personally will not be making any upgrading moves from my 12 mini before Apple’s September show. 🖐️

I would like to see the mini back at the 16 and 17 models, and the plus staying to 14 and 15. Giving a break in cycle on the non typical device sizes.

That way each could get a new form factor when it is release the next time.

According to CoconutBattery my 14 Pro battery was manufactured by Sunwoda, is 367 days old and is at 98.6% of design capacity. iOS settings Battery Health is showing it at 97% of maximum capacity so it looks like i got one of the good ones 😀

Yes they're now used to pulling this trick to make the non-pro line cheaper and look less attractive.

In this case it's not a problem because the A chips are crazy fast. Even my iPhone 5 from 2012 is (slightly laggy but) still usable. My 6s, XR, 12 and 14 Pro will never lag; Apple did drop or will drop support many years before this happens.

The same trick again. But mind you, the A16 chip on the iPhone 14 Pro overheats quite a lot and consumes a lot of power, thus the poor battery life and health of the 14 Pro.
Can't say I've had these problems. My 14 pro has 97% maximum capacity and I usually make it to the end of the day with 40%+ charge still remaining with the always on display on. What are you people doing with your phones, are you using it whilst keeping it on charge?

So posts like this are trusted? There doesn't seem to be a reference to the actual source. Since there's already a known sequence, anybody can just make up the next expected numbers and say they "found this", without actually providing proof.
At this point, I think it's fair to say I have a proven track record. Unlike other "leakers," my source is purely the code. I don't have "inside sources" and such and I don't post rumors, just factual things that I see in the code.

I’d straight up trade in my 14 Pro for a refreshed iPhone mini with updated specs 🤩
