I get absolutely no option under Tweetbot in Subscriptions to share it with family.

A: I don’t subscribe to software as a principle!!!
B: You just bought a $1,000 phone but you complained about a $6/yr app?

Repeat the above × ∞

One time purchase is fine (which I and many people have also already bought). Problem here is SaaS.

I decided to bite the bullet and paid for a year. They are giving a week free and if you don't like it, you can not pay if you don't want to. First day I used it, I already like it for the high contrast text in dark mode and it is much more smoother. I do not like the original twitter app because I hate the ads and whatever they through at me. I have mostly all third party twitter apps (Aviary, twitterrific, and tweetlogix). I paid for all on Mac and iOS and now I think I will just stick to Tweetbot.

What do you think about Aviary? It looks like an interesting app to me, and there are versions for iOS and MacOS. However, on Reddit I read mixed opinions.

I don’t use it because it takes long to refresh the timeline and it doesn’t sign in on my Mac. It is second on my list. Tweetbot first then aviary.

itter client, no thank you lol This is getting ridiculous. Moving to a free Twitter ap
Fully Agree.
Subscription?? Laugh. Delete.

app will end up like fantastical3 did.....
BTW - let them know your dissatisfaction on twitter
Feedback is important, and critical for the best services. Honestly the creator (a member on the forums here btw) does make a great twitter application, great artistic design as well, probably the best on any platform.
I'm okay with supporting Tweetbot but if it's subscription based I'm going to wait until feature parity with the official client before subscribing.

I was a Tweetbot user for many years before Twitter neutered the API and I went to the official client. Good to know it might be back as an option soon!

I used to support Tweetbot until a few years ago. I disliked:
Every iteration after v4 I think or after iOS6 - you had to purchase the app for every new iOS version.
I also disliked that fact if you upgraded your iPhone to a new iOS you could NOT wipe the iPhone and restore to a previous iOS version (back in the days you could do this within 30 days after the new release), You could no longer download the old version.
I ESPECIALLY loathed when iOS released a new version for installation, if you didn’t upgrade, you not only no longer update to the new Tweetbot version, If you deleted the current version, you could NOT redownload it from your purchases.

SO I stopped supporting tweetbot.
No thanks. The official app is fine.

been using the official app for 3yrs+ now.
Longtime Tweetbot fan and I understand and pay for app subs, but let's not forget that Tweetbot literally REMOVED functionality from paying customers because Twitter removed it from their APIs. So now that Twitter has an updated API, Tweetbot wants to charge a sub to get functionality back... eventually? And then what happens when Tweetbot 6 for Mac comes out -- two subs? Hard pass for now. They need to be much clearer about what is going on here.

Love Tweetbot. $6 a year is more than reasonable.

I’m not so sure they same fee will be recharged for a new iteration of Tweetbot when iOS 15 gets released in the same calendar year. Nothing concrete about this - especially given the past experiences I’ve mentioned above.

I have not used the stock Twitter app in ages. Does it support safari view and the iOS share sheet properly yet?
Sort of. Safari VC, yes. Share sheet: you can tap share and then "Share via…", or you can long-tap share to get directly to that sheet.

(I prefer Tweetbot, FWIW.)

I used to use Tweetbot, but I apart from it not having all of Twitter's features (polls, group DMs, etc), I also found it was not showing all of my mentions. Not sure why, and maybe they have fixed that, but it seemed pretty pointless to pay for an app that didn't even present everything in my Twitter feed.

For years, Twitter Inc. halted development of their third-party API. So the short answer is: because it wasn't possible for Tweetbot to do that.

Yes; polls can be viewed now (albeit not yet voted on). Twitter has promised they'll prioritize API development again.

As Twitter rolls out new features, Tweetbot will add some of those.

Right. But as I use Twitter partially for work, not seeing all mentions was pretty much a deal-breaker, for an app that cost money - versus the free website.

As nice as the Tweetbot UI is, I can't see much point in it, especially not for a subscription fee.

Sure.

Personally, I use Tweetbot for reading the main timeline and for most of my own tweeting, but leave Twitter around for notifications (e.g., mentions) and some other features.

I think that’s pretty much it - we are paying for “niceness”.

I use Apollo to browse Reddit because I feel the former offers a better UI than the stock reddit app. I used overcast for a while because I felt it was superior to the default podcast app. I used Tweetbot back when I felt the twitter app’s UI was messy and uninspiring and Tweetbot was faster to support native iOS features like split-screen multitasking, safari view controller and share-sheet extensions, and while it hasn’t seem much updates of late, I still prefer its cleaner interface.

That and I use twitter mainly as a news feed. I hardly tweet, so the Tweetbot app helps block out a lot of the noise on social media.

Personally, I am happy that developers still deem iOS profitable enough to create third party apps like this for people like us to consume and enjoy.
