It's funny to me. The whole reason I signed up for Twitter in the first place was for getting live updates from macrumors during an Apple new product reveal back in like 2007. You could only interact with it via text at that point.

I think you misunderstood. You have to already be a clown to lay down money for, well, nothing. You don't earn clown status just by handing over money! But, once you've paid, you're an ID10T, so there's that in case you always wanted to be one of those but didn't have the grades for it in school.
Like him or dislike him, only a fool would bet against one of the most successful businessmen of all time. Hate to disappoint, but Twitter ain't going anywhere.
There may be a difference between not going anywhere and recouping $44 billion.
I see those terrible ads in Apple News, and I see ads in newsletters for services (like The Athletic), and it annoys me so much. I wish someone would make an extension for Mail that ran ad blockers there, too!
It may be a waste of money to some. For others it obviously is worth it. Likewise, perhaps the funds will lead to useful features. But I guess if Musk were smart, he’d get tips from all the accomplished posters on here how to take a crummy thing and make it awesome.
Spotify and others do the same thing, nothing new here.
Simply because you succeed doesn’t insulate you from subsequent failure.
I would rather subscribe Tesla premium connectivity to stream Apple Music than subscribe Twitter.

After checking out 'The Twitter Files', I'm glad Musk bought it and ruined the ACTUAL misinformation game that was going on. I'm enjoying Twitter now. I'll gladly pay $11 now.
