Sure as long as you have a monopoly on your version of “blue check marks” that will work great. Otherwise the market will adjust and apples fee will mean nothing.

I'm really curious to see whether all those people complaining about the subscription are simply going to continue using Twitter without the blue pixels next to their name or if they will make up justifications why it's necessary after all.

I would only pay for this if it completely got rid of ads. That is the only feature I care about, the verification check thing is cringe. Unfortunately, Elon is in control of things and still nobody with a brain.

You can subscribe to Spotify via the app? I tried to do it the other day and it just directed me to the browser.

100% Agree with you. I believe in what they are doing too but I don’t believe in paying for a nonsense/rip off subscription fee. Especially for a blue star.
If Twitter wants to charge consumers. Charge them $0.99 or $1.99 a month. The $8.00 is way too high. I rather get myself a 🍔 Big Mac from 〽️ McDonald’s once a month for that amount.

uh... If I could get an iPhone without the logo for free, or an iPhone with an Apple logo for $800 more, I'd go for the free iPhone.
And if I wanted the other Twitter Blue features, I'd pay for it without verifying my phone number so I wouldn't get the blue checkmark.

What year are YOU living in? That was true for cable TV, which is one of the main reasons people "cut the cord". As soon as I see a Doritos ad on a service I'm paying for, I'm out.

Getting an account on Twitter is free, tweet all the way through. Nothing will stop you unless you violate the platform's terms.
Now the $8 is OPTIONAL and when you pay for that you get benefits.
