nice to see apple’s app transparency is making a hit on twitter’s revenue
This is kind of what I talked about some time ago. Apple is very interested in cutting down ad revenue so apps have to monetize using in app purchases so that Apple gets its 30-15% cut.

lucky me has great twitter experience with pleasant friends
who are real scientist and post photos of turtles, birds and bears, ohmy!
still would nor pay to use that

@Bluetoot-
Funny you should mention that. I've been looking into backing an entrant to the Turkmen National Horse Beauty Contest. Even though I know Berdimuhamedov's nag is gonna win no matter what...

So.... Tweetbot's subscription model suddenly looks so much better, right?

Does it also remove the ads and sponsored tweets? Does it also disable ALL of their tracking of you which they then monetize? Probably not. Twitter doesn’t even give you the option to open links natively in Safari because they also want to see EVERYTHING you are interacting with. Every link on their platform is a redirect, which gives them exact insight to external web traffic. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Facebook come out with a similar subscription service with almost the same lack of features…

For $0.50/month, I might be willing to pay to edit some of my Tweets, but I don't need to undo.

Facts and opinions are different things.

We, as a society, need to stop conflating the two.

We as a society need to stop accusing people's opinions as conspiracy theories and go back to having healthy debates. Facts are not set in stone. If they were, most of society would still go around believing that the Earth was flat.

I’d happily pay $3 bucks to block out all non-verified and non-Twitter blue accounts that I don’t follow and aren’t followed by verified users. That would clean out all the trolls and make Twitter a far more pleasant experience.

As of now, the featured offered aren’t worth the subscription. I don’t need an undo button because I read my tweets before sending and I have no problems reading long threads.

Color themes and different app icons for $2.99/month.

Tweetbot already offers these for $5.99/year. I don’t know what “reader mode” means, but threads in tweetbot are a hell of a lot easier to follow than in the Twitter app.

Twitter appears to have mistakenly confirmed its plans to launch a new subscription tier called "Twitter Blue," with the new purchase option now listed in the iOS App Store.

Under In-App Purchases, there's now a "Twitter Blue" option that's priced at $2.99, though the feature does not appear to be live in the iOS app at this time.

The Twitter Blue in-app purchase option was discovered by researcher Jane Manchun Wong, who has previously shared details on Twitter Blue that were found buried in the Twitter for iOS code.

Twitter Blue will include an "Undo Tweet" option that holds a tweet for a set period of time before sending it out so you can choose to undo it, and a "Reader Mode" that makes it easier to read long threads.

There are also new color themes to choose from and custom app icons, plus a Collections feature for saving and organizing favorite tweets to make them easier to find in the future.

It's not clear when Twitter Blue will become available, but with the in-app purchase option live in the App Store, it signals that the feature is set to launch in the near future. When asked for more information, Twitter said it had no comment at this time.

Only way I pay for a twitter subscription is if they ban all the robots and obvious bs posts.
