This is twitter’s solution to float revenue from banning their #1 content creator. Good job Jack.

Twitter is the absolute worst of the evil big techs by a long shot, and the only one I refuse to own any stock in directly.

Editable tweets is one of these things that everyone gets behind until it gets used for the wrong reasons.

If you tweet something that many people disagree with, you are currently given the options of accepting the disagreement or deleting the tweet.

If you tweet something that many people disagree with, but are given the option to edit the tweet, you can then edit the tweet to reflect badly on the people that interacted with your initial tweet.

Say you tweeted "Like this if you love cats". You garner 15k likes. You then edit that tweet to say "I am attracted to children". Every one of those 15k people that liked that tweet have that on their profile for everyone to see.

If the edit function is ever enabled, the only fair way for it to work is if the initial tweet is edited, all existing likes or comments are automatically deleted and you start from fresh. it ould be completely unfair for people to comment on or like a tweet for it to be edited at a later date.
Exactly this. Cancel culture is too rampant these days so well meaning people can get in trouble for a RT/Like on their profile because people want to act like ass hats and change it up.

Who would pay $3 a month to get abused by strangers?
There are a lot of lonely/weird people out there who actually do pay some random to treat them like crap😄. Look at the pathetic people of onlyfans for that evidence.

Pass, I don’t support company’s that endorse censorship.
I believe everyone has a right to free speech, even if it’s idiotic.

nice to see apple’s app transparency is making a hit on twitter’s revenue
My thoughts exactly. Well, that plus their censorship tactics that have caused many to jump ship. With subscription base dropping as so their advertising revenues due to the above, they are now resorting to new tactics to recoup the losses, which are attempting to milk users who are left.

What is frustrating is that a lot of companies have moved support to Social Media. If you don't have an account, you can be relegated to email support or worse, the infamous forum community. Luckily, I haven't had to deal with that aspect much thus far. I will stick to email, the company website, or MR for help.
I sort of encountered this last summer. My ISP connection was unstable, and their support was the most responsive on Twitter. Reaching them by phone resulted in over 2 hours hold with possibly getting disconnected somewhere in the process; e-mails went unanswered. However, when I DM'd them on Twitter, someone responded within 30 minutes and after a brief conversation, tech appointment was set to get things fixed.
With that being said, I don't mind social media being used as one of support channels, but it should not be the only one. It is a nice supplement to old school support channels such as phone, e-mail, web portals, mobile apps; but contacting your vendor via social media should not be anyone's first resort.

Remember when Steve used to say that if you are not paying for a product, then you ARE the product?
In this context, what would that make you if you are paying for Twitter?

why would *anyone* pay for a platform that censors people they don't like? I prefer ad-supported wokism

Ah so now I can pay to have Twitter block me from tweeting factual information they don’t want people knowing about. No thanks.

i’m genuinely curious, what sort of factual information does twitter block you from tweeting, and why don’t they want people knowing about it?

I can't seem to find the statistics showing twitter's user base dropping. can you point me to that? thanks

If you’re going to start paying for these products then they should stop scraping the data from you.

No doubt. There was a time when I'd have gladly paid Twitter some reasonable amount per month just because I liked the platform, and would rather have it be paid than being the product. But, they've blown that by becoming part of the problem.

Will there still be hundreds of irrelevant ads and tweets from people I don’t follow in my feed? 😁

And like someone else pointed out above, the most important missing feature is to be able to edit a tweet.

No you must sign a lifetime contract in blood So you can never cancel the huge few bucks a month. You can’t be censured by a private company only blocked from using their product. Because free speech protections only apply to actions by government. Constitution is pretty clear to those who actually read it.

Censorship and suppression have been outsourced to tech monopolies. The same tech monopolies that are protected by paid-off politicians. The monopolies provide protection for the powerful and wealthy (including China) that you so glibly dismiss as if it isn't happening.

Implying there's a free market is ludicrous. “Well, start your own ding-danged TwitBook!” We all saw what happened to Parler. The Constitution has been subverted and that's pretty clear to anyone who has the slightest idea what's going on.
