The outcome of a trial would be being ordered to buy it. The issue is, Twitter and Musk would have spent millions more on legal fees, which ultimately he pays for. It's the only rational decision he's made so far.

when everyone is verified, then everyone is verified - and you have way more safe network with zero bots and anon ********ers (assuming verification is still a thing, ie. your account needs to retain your real name identical to one on the credit card and you cant change it while under the program)
you're still operating on the idea that verification is somehow haram for regular human beings and reserved to celebrities/media/etc. one has nothing to do with the other.
that being said, there should be some way to distinguish Tim Cook the Apple CEO from others Tim Cooks that are out there and might want to have verified account, ie. a known/celeb account status (that should not require any payment whatsoever)

This. If anyone can just pay for a blue check mark then how can we know who is actually real and who is fake??
It will just devolve the whole platform to where no one of importance will use it to post or relay news/information because users won’t know which accounts are actually real or trustworthy.
