Apple has changed their own APIs, Twitter has changed their APIs before as well, that is the nature of online services. Do you have proof of said contracts or were they just terms of service? One can be argued, the other can be altered without consent.
Developers had to pay to access the API. There has to have been a contract for this to happen. You don't just tick a box and say "I agree to your terms of service", and gift money to Twitter each month.

Instead of killing all the third party clients, why not start charging them 30% (or whatever cut) of their sales and let them keep running? Developers might not be too happy, but at least they’re still getting something, and Twitter is making up for lost ad revenue. I’m sure there’s already contracts already in place where they couldn’t do this, but just a random thought from someone who has no idea what they’re talking about.

There's an actual process of cause and effect going on where Elon Musk does stupid, ridiculous, and/or offensive things and then people bash him for them. The reaction to him has gotten stronger the more stupid, ridiculous, and offensive he has behaved. Cause and effect. The bashing doesn't come from nothing.

🥱 My point is he shouldn't be bashed for things that actually aren't stupid. It's pretty clear many (not all) are letting their person opinion about Elon color their judgment. This is a very common, yet irrational thing that happens all the time, especially in politics. Personally, I don't feel strongly about him either way.

Delete your Twitter.

Hell, forget about all Elon has done, Twitter has mostly been the digital manifestation of the internet culture’s worst aspects for years now. The only non-toxic usage you could really give that app now is p0rn.

I'd be happy if Twitter is banned from the App Store.
At this point I have to agree with you, Twitter is an utter cesspool, I have to hunt for the feeds of people I follow & have more & more upsetting tweets appearing in my feed. Many of the trending topics are horrifying & sorry but I refuse to pay $11 a month for a blue check mark.

The main reason I have stayed is because of the strong cancer community there & #medtwitter

He is probably trying to block people blocking his ads.

For Android you can still use Fritter and it works fine.

There may be some subjectivity involved here.

It's pretty clear many (not all) are letting their person opinion about Elon color their judgment. This is a very common, yet irrational thing that happens all the time, especially in politics. Personally, I don't feel strongly about him either way.

I didn't feel strongly about him until his companies started showcasing abusive treatment of employees. At first my response was "oh, more corporate abuse of employees". It's not good, but it's also not surprising. I could give him the benefit of the doubt to a minor extent, especially if he responded by trying to make things better... but he didn't. He played the "this is all lies" game, and there were too many people with the same reports to believe the rich executive over the many vulnerable workers and their reports.

Then, when he made a nuisance of himself in public, my opinion of him started to really coalesce.

See, initially, I was open-minded about him. I thought maybe he was just another tech geek with some social skills deficits, but with his heart in the right place. I was very much disabused of that impression and it's ultimately on HIM, not on any irrational biases or political rhetoric.

The same process happened for me with Microsoft and Bill Gates. In general, I have found that the less I know about someone, the more able I am to hold little to no feelings about them. I mean, of course. It's perfectly normal. Also perfectly normal: Once they start impacting the world in which I exist, and the moment they start making themselves seen, it gets hard NOT to have feelings about them, regardless of what those feelings are.

Yes, my ideologies inform my responses, but I don't go looking for people to be angry at. I never have; yet certain people have seemingly put out great effort to make themselves known to as many people as possible (and even to me directly). Forming an opinion about someone is not some kind of plot. It's human. It's cause and effect.

This has been mentioned about a thousand times in this forum, but there are no ads to block in the feed that third-party Twitter app developers receive, so they cannot block them. Twitter have chosen not to put ads into the API responses, so suggesting it's being done to "block people blocking his ads" is wrong.

Yet another way to screw his advertisers. Most use a third party app to schedule posts and more. Way to go the stable genius Elon Musk

Most third party Twit developers just keep making minor changes to their apps and charging again and again for “new” versions.

Couldn’t care less about Elon or Twitter, don’t use it. But glad to see Tweetbot and others get what they deserve.

Think I left Twitter when Tweetbot was on its 3rd-4th version and not much changed from one to the other, but the dev charged $5 each time. Now it has a sub. 🙄 What’s it on now, v7? Stupid.

Update: at this pace, I’ll never beat my disagree record of 90+. Step it up, all.
The only reason third party developers had to do that is because Twitter limited how many users they could get. They had to sell minor updates to stay in business.

lol, they're on their way to that as we speak. Need glasses?
I'm not a heavy twitter user, but I peruse from time to time. I believe Elon occasionally posts usage stats, which have shown usage at all time highs. Plus when I use it personally, it seem as lively as ever. 🤷‍♂️ But I guess if you and others in MacRumors forum say that it's dying, it must be true. :D:p

The funny thing about comments like this is that this is all the same kind of content you see on twitter. It's just people spewing out their opinions. Which is fine. But don't delude yourself into thinking that what you say here in the form of a comment is any different than what someone would tweet on twitter. There's nothing I have ever read on a MacRumors forum or elsewhere that isn't exactly the same as what I see on Twitter.

Is this the same as Twitter banning then un-banning and then banning George Santos?
The decisions at Twitter seem to be fleeting and not well thought out.
