I used to love Twitter, but this won't get me back.
Sounds like a political stance - as been typical with non-anecdotal responses to twitter since new ownership. IF its simply the turn towards more toxic posts ... that's been a tread since 2020 and continues irregardless of anyone's opinion nor ownership.

Your choice is yours of course. I still use it mostly for:
Rap artists and commentary of artists albums of the past - discovery of music, posts of current musician's happenings in life (gotta love Ice T's 'Ice Cold Facts' posts to be honest).
Sometimes insights into the sway of how violence is perceived 1 way or the other,
trends of economics or day to day life affecting others,
CEO's posting big events or milestones (sales achievements, delivery #'s, etc).

I stepped out of Twitter like ten years ago (when people still used it to talk about their daily and mundane tasks, not as a political polarization tool), and this is ensures I won’t come back.
^ at least someone is honest and provides anecdotal reasons. It's honest and I can respect this.

Personally I don't see any difference that FB used to have before I left in 2012, nor on IG - but IG seems much more positive.

Still scratching my head over the Twitter hate… Other than verification, it’s literally the same app, with many of the same features from before. The biggest difference outside of verification is it isn‘t policed by the ‘your words are offensive so you should be banned’ crowd.

Any app that supports PiP is great for me. I use it a lot and actually watch quite a few videos on Twitter.

Except for the fact that’s it’s objectively worse since the foreign agent bought it in that it either keeps breaking or he intentionally breaks it.

And then there’s also the fact that he’s been banning all sorts of people since buying it at the request of some of the worst people on the planet, along with re-instating a seemingly endless amount of neo-Nazi’s, trolls, and all sorts of racists. So apparently it’s ok to ban people for “offensive words”, as long as they happen to be anti-fascist researchers, or media E doesn’t like.

It was bad before he bought it, but he embraced the worst elements of it, and brought back all sorts of truly disgusting people.

To all the complaints that “rate limits have been exceeded” or that “this thing doesn’t work! What a garbage app” or “Elon sucks! I’m out!”

Isn’t that actually great? It’s as if this poison that was concocted 10+ years ago suddenly is giving all its users the antidote.

I only use special media to follow and interact with people I personally know, as in they are in my contacts. I don't follow news, politics, influencers or celebrities. They left, so I did as well.

Only social media I still have is Instagram.

Most of the complaints (and screenshots!) coming from the people who decided they were leaving twitter when Enron/Elmo/Space Karen took over.

Not a great advert for Mastodon.

This is all your opinion based on your own perspective, of course. It’s almost as if those of us who enjoy using Twitter are bad people because we don’t see the world through lens the haters see.

View attachment 2226695To all wondering if the “rate limit exceeded” stuff is true. Yep. It’s been horrible all day and nothing is working how it should. Half the time the tweets load, half the time they don’t with that message showing instead. Elon is doing some really dumb things to the platform and I don’t expect it to last long at this rate.
Is he writing the code himself or something?

This Elon hate framing is pretty sad.

Someone posted this on Mastodon, and if true

You're pretending like you don't use Twitter yet you post Twitter links later?

Remember when a lot of people thought he was a genius? LOL.

Remember when everyone thought Twitter was going to be dead by now? Fact that people are getting rate limited *BECAUSE* of complaining about rate limit shows it's still very much alive. LOL

My perspective?? Weak excuse.

I am logged out of the app so all I see is what is shown I guess randomly.

I see French riots trending and curious as to what’s going on this time I click the tag, and what do I see? Literally dozens of posts from huge right wing accounts calling for a final solution for immigrants in Europe. That isn’t my perspective, that’s just a fact, you may not have an issue with that sort of stuff but I’d say most normal people CERTAINLY do.

This is what E has turned twitter into, he’s a terrible human being and I hope he fails hard.

I was told Twitter would be shutdown by now and that Elon doesn't know what he's doing.

Can't wait for those who said "Elon was supposed to step down as CEO because he promised he would" to also say "Yeah, Elon had to step down as CEO because he needed someone who knows what they're doing".
People talked **** because of his political point of views, not because of what he can and can't do with Twitter.

People acted like Twitter required a rocket scientist to manage it. Oh wait, Elon did launch a rocket to space. I guess they were right all along.

I used to like him and wanted a Tesla, that was before I knew what a scumbag he was.

You are who you pal around with. And he is buddy buddy with the worst of humanity.

1. Steve Jobs wasn't a scumbag?
2. Lots of articles that paint Elon as a "scumbag" left out plenty of details. I'm going to guess you've read about the thai cave incident but don't even know the other half of the story.

Compared to other billionaires like Zuck, Bezos, Steve Ballmer, and Mark Cuban, Elon is actually one of the better billionaires to exist.

That’s the weirdest flex I’ve seen so far.

“It’s broken, but because everyone is complaining how broken it is, proves how well it’s doing.”

He already loaded all his other debts into Twitter so when it fails he can wash his hands of them. Actions like this help to make it look like there was some kind of effort to actually run it as a legitimate business & not just a vehicle for fraud in the inevitable SEC hearing.

Since he is now the CTO of Twitter running it like this:

Kinda explains the whole situation a lot better to me now:

I'm beginning to think that yes, since most of the $44 billion were not his (majority stakes by Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia and China is the rumor). Oracle guy and jack dorsey seem to be in for "just a billion".

They want to tank low then build it back up as a disinformation machine. From that lens, Enron is doing a "perfect" job.

I'm beginning to think that maybe?

Personally I don't think I would ever use it. Most of the Twitter videos are done by the time I swipe out of it and focus the other window.
