"“The Bloomberg report notes, for instance, that an unspecified “racist slur”—which we’re just going to go ahead and assume is the n-word, on account of seeing a lot of tweets where people very proudly shouted the n-word on Twitter this weekend—increased in usage by 1,300 percent after Musk’s acquisition of the service went through. Meanwhile, ivermectin—which Musk’s old pal Joe Rogan openly promoted, despite medical claims to the contrary, as an effective treatment for COVID-19—shot up by 2,900 percent, peaking at 358 mentions every five minutes. Oh, and antisemitism, too, with the Anti-Defamation League saying on Friday that it had identified a coordinated plan to spread antisemitic memes on the service.”

Look, we all get it, some people are obsessed with Elon and will do and buy every single thing he says and sells, and defend every single part of his past, there’s no getting around that.
Why do other people's obsession matter here? What other people are obsessed about doesn't change objective facts. 2+2=4 no matter if you like it or hate it.

I’m not going into the deep end to research about someone I don’t care about and who constantly lies and attacks people who go after him.
In other words, you write off your own credibility from the onset.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he drops off a sink at my front door in the next few days since he is so petty.
"I hate this guy so much I'm not going to bother looking into it" is quite petty

Here are some links from five minutes of searching.

My mistake, he’s the child of an emerald mine millionaire and model.
You argued against him building his business from nothing. So again, how much did he receive from the mine?
The link says his wealth was built from business ventures. What part did the mines play in this, did the link say?

(I met a friend in college when we were living in low-cost private dormitory. After graduation he worked as a software engineer, living in a 1BR apartment, driving a 10 year old car. Never owned a TV. He was the most frugal of all my friends. It wasn't until I visited his home country that I learned his family owns a multi-generation continental industrial conglomerate)

I didn’t say he didn’t deserve credit for being at the start of a company that was eventually bought out, that is how things work. He did not invent or start paypal, he was bought out by a company that EVENTUALLY became paypal, no relation to Elon…. Yet he does get credit for starting paypal which is factually incorrect.
He is most credited as being a part of the "Paypal mafia", which is a large group of people involved significantly from the beginning, not just the 5 initial cofounders.

Paypal was a merger of 2 companies, 1 of which he co-founded, so he was very much a part of its genesis.

Seems like the original founders had a lot to do with Tesla and how its vehicles operate.
When founder 1 left, company had sold 0 cars.
When founder 2 left, company had sold 50 cars. And Tesla started working was working on a new car (Model S), which sold 200k+. Now it's sold 2M+

So how much are they responsible for, ballpark guess?

Maybe Tesla paid the loans back, but I did also mention his other companies, this shows his companies have and continue to receive subsidies and tax breaks.
Governments create subsidies, discounts, and other tax policies to incentivize activities that they want.

People get tax deductions for having kids, because government wants you to have kids. You get IRA growth sheltered from capital gains, because they want you to save for retirement. First-time Homebuyer Act gives you credit against a house, because they want you to buy a house.

You buying a house and claiming those credits, is not an indictment of wrong doing or grounds for criticism, it's what the authorities want.

Industry disrupting? Ok sure. Quality products? Not so much.

It’s also not a judgement of realized achievements, it’s literally a matter of fact if all of these people going off on their own to create their own rockets actually paid taxes, space exploration(and basically everything else government funding related) would be much better off than what they are currently doing.
So when you file your taxes next year, how about not claiming any credit or deduction, no student loan payment deduction, no mortgage interest deduction, no deduction against charitable givings, giving your covid stimulus checks back, etc.... would that be better off than what you were doing before?

I must see different stuff from the rest of the world cause I see very little political stuff on my twitter feed. Mostly just a few comic book people and lotsa tech (Mac/iOS) and local sports stuff. Where is the cesspool of which so many speak? Personal I think he bought it to burn it down cause he didn't like it.

At the salary they are likely getting, if they can't get a simple thing like this online in a week they really deserve to be fired anyway. It'd show they are dragging their feet intentionally otherwise or just not qualified for the job and salary in the first place.
My guess is Elon isn’t asking this in the blind. He’s probably looked at a list of possible (R&D) projects that are already at some stage of testing/development. And decided he liked this one.

I think some of the news stuff getting out is him trying to sound “tough”.

They said even if they only have a week and there was no background work done on this already, the devs. will figure out a solution. It may be duct-tape and wire to hold it together for launch.

A while ago I created a Twitter account for my dad, so he could follow some accounts about news and sports. He did not have any followers and he never tweeted anything. However one day Twitter suspended that account for "suspicious activity". Their algorithm seems to be very strange. Doing nothing is already suspicious.

Ive tried making new accounts and this hits me every time, signing up and following auto blocks people/me for "sus activity" and then they want a phone number to verify you're real and not on a block list

has nothing to do with the kind of accounts followed, they just dont like new users

Sure we do! A blue check told us! 🤣
A blue check told his he’s Willy Nilly threatening to fire people? And maybe he is. But the point is anyone can say anything or leave out pertinent context. And not to just believe any headline you read. It’s like people have a guilty until proven innocent mindset these days.

I wonder if this news about twitter has come from a trusted staff member who worked directly with one of the fired excutivies who feels aggrieved that their friend and colleague was fired so abruptly.

Being verified is a double edged sword. If you say something wrong and you will be found on and off the web.

To be fair a high percentage of Rogan’s audience has the mange so it isn’t totally unwarranted.

To be honest.. Twitter has to have something developed that he wants/needs. Maybe some type of AI? Backend for Starlink? Something.
One of his other companies will become its biggest customer. Similar to starlink and spacex..
or just the fact that he's the richest person on earth and he bought it simply because he can as a toy

I doubt the “fired” executives were planning to stay there. Most of them probably made a ton of money when Musk bought the company.

in vehicle racing they teach you to look where you want to go, because the vehicle follows your eyes.

people see what they want to see.

the people complaining about toxic political content... are probably themselves obsessed with toxic political content.

i follow music and economics, and i see music and economic content. crazy how algorithms work!

Who ever are the ones creating the new twitter accounts so they can spread hatred and racial slurs, I wonder if they had the EU in mind because the EU is the one part of the world that has threatened to come down hard on tech companies who do not deal with such things on their platforms with the threat of massive fines if they do not get their platform under control.

I wonder how long the EU will wait before it tells Musk to get a handle on the company he has bought and deal with the racial slurs and hatred appearing across it's platform or risk getting massive fines.

It’s comments like yours that make me think we are doomed. You think everyone is an a$$ and you imagine that those who aren’t actually are. So you probably behave the same way.

The reality is that most people are nice and you are making it hard for the rest of us.
I don't think he's saying everyone is anything. I don't agree about the good boss part. A good boss is one who knows who needs what kind of motivation. We used to have great bosses like that. Some employees just needed a kick in the ass once in a while, but some needed positive reinforcement, and they knew who was who.
