Why did they call both the 2G and 3G Iphones 3G?
Apple messed up their naming, with the iPhone 3G. Why?
Because the iPhone 3G is practically the
same as the iPhone original, except it has 3G capabilities. Hence it didn't deserve the name, iPhone 2.
People thought that the iPhone 3G only had 3GBs, it was very weird.
Then the 3rd iPhone was named iPhone 3GS. Why? Because going from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3, makes no sense marketing wise. Customers want to see
more added to the product, not less. But the 3rd iPhone actually deserved the name, iPhone 3.
Apple pays attention to every detail in the products, including the name. Otherwise they would've called the iPad 2, the iPad 1S according to some people.
so here's how it's going:
iPhone original = iPhone 1
iPhone 3G = iPhone 2
iPhone 3GS = iPhone 3
iPhone 4 = iPhone 4
iPhone 5 = iPhone 5
iPhone 6 = iPhone 6
By naming the following, Apple is messing up so much:
iPhone 4S = iPhone 5?
iPhone 5 = iPhone 6?
iPhone 5S = iPhone 7?
iPhone 6 = iPhone 8?
Hope everyone understands.
