Imagine buying a Mac for production, but it’s so good at gaming also, you don’t need a separate ****** gaming pc for when you want one machine to rule them all.
I tried, I legit tried to get all my emulators running, they just dont run perfectly or have weird wonky issues. I bought parallels to run it, and some things ran, and others wouldn't run at all.

wish bootcamp worked on it, tbh that would of been bonkers. D: I want sea of thieves etc to work. couldnt get anything to run proper. I have my m1 air that I use 99.999% of the time for everything personal/work. so this time im just getting me a gaming laptop replacement and calling good. put into corner and let everyone have the space of desk for studying/writing/reading

gf just made a very smart point to me, saying around Christmas people are busy buying stuff for children, that people probably aren't going to be looking for a high end iMac at the moment. toys>iMac in priorities today.

I actually agree with her assumption.

Imagine buying a PC for creative work.
Imagine being stuck in the 90s with this horrifically outdated way of thinking. The Mac and PC are both tools. They can both pretty much do the exact same things at this point. Except PCs will dominate in gaming for the foreseeable future. This is just a fact. The advent of these developers creating games for Apple Silicon is very promising, though. I hope more of this continues. When I switch back and forth between Mac and Windows I'm not held back by anything. The "feel" of the OS is a preference. They have their strengths and weaknesses. Apple's biggest strength is the cross compatibility with all their devices. This is not something Windows will ever have. It is a major convenience.

For anyone speculating, the Mac Studio’s identifier is Mac13,1 and 13,2. The only Mac to ever have an identifier of just “Mac” has been the Mac Studio. Given that these have 2 major/whole number IDs (14 and 15), my theory is these will be the next Max Studio and either a higher end variant of the Mac Studio, or Apple is reimagining the Mac Pro has a higher tiered Mac Studio.

I just pray we’re going get expansion slots in at least one product.

I'm just glad the item is based on some possibly new piece of hardware. We all come here to find out about that kind of thing, and early clues are fascinating.

I don't know about expansion slots. Apple seems to have turned away from that idea. But who knows? It's all speculation until it's announced.

Anyone choosing a computer based on cliches and not their personal needs shouldn't be buying a computer.
Well, like it or not, but Apple products are often getting bought just because they are "cool kid's toys".

All I've ever wanted is to play RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 + 2 (but not 2's pathetic expansion packs) on an Apple computer. It's all I've ever wanted. But it's always a joke to try to run it in any capacity currently available. Hell, even NoLimits... but, nope.

Steam’s hardware survey is entirely opt-in. With the Geekbench scores in too I think it’s very likely Apple send out a few pre-production models to devs so they can prove something. I’m not entirely sure what that could be. Might be some tools to help migrate games from Windows to Mac. I don’t think Apple would send out machines just for performance only.

https://openrct2.org/ is there for you. To play 1 (and 2) you can also try porting kit: https://www.portingkit.com/
I tested OpenRCT2 and it works great. Didn’t test Porting Kit, but I think it works fine.
