Just talked to one of the online chat people,
They said:

"We did have this offer last year, we are waiting to hear if it will be available again this year. We should know very soon if it will go ahead or not."

Then they gave me the link for the current apple news- http://www.apple.com/uk/hotnews/

Sounds promising, but after tomorrow I might just buy anyway... Been waiting too long.

Blackbook on campus is £816.63. It's insane they can charge £100 for a different colour and a slightly larger hard drive. i guess people pay for it though... Easy profit.

I'm waiting til tomorrow, then buying instore either way. You can get the full HE discount, i checked.

Expect to pay maybe 50p more. Don't ask me why. Nearly every single thing I've purchased instore (together with uni ID) has cost 50p (approx) more than in store. Batteries, Power supplies, VGA cables.

Don't know if the extra will be more for a whole mac, but we aware. May not be EXACTLY the same price you are expecting to pay as the online higher education store price. Plus, it's much easier to make internal changes ordering online than in store (bar maybe RAM). Hard drives, Graphics Cards etc etc I think you'll be recommended to order online.

That's my experience.

Yeah it should be, except your link also had your institution's specific ID code (the numbers in your link).

The one I've given is just a general Higher Ed store link from where you choose your institute. Anyone who clicked your link would get taken to the same page as my link (unless they're at your institution - I think). Either way, works out roughly the same. The links you and I have given for higher ed stores offer the greatest discount, but require you to be on campus (or using a remote connection).

I'm not on a campus, I've accessed through that link from home and work.

Cheers, don't think 50p will worry me too much though :p
As for changes, i'm buying standard 2.4 and upgrading to 4GB myself. So i think it should be pretty painless

That's cool, ha yeah I know 50p isn't much, but it was more to make you aware that it may be more instore. Just wanted to make you aware in case you do get there and its like £50 extra or something random. But yeah, happy purchasing.

hopefully they will do the right thing and offer it when the new macbooks come out :)

That's not the right thing ! The righ thing would be to start it tomorrow, or friday, then I can get it sold, along with my Phone and 1st gen iPod touch and get a top-of-the-line iMac, then get a PAYG iPhone 3G :D

It says the back to school offer is until October 31st so I'd hold off maybe if you want to wait for the latest Macbook.

I'm going to order my iMac tomorrow morning. What a great evening. Back to school offer starts and the eagles are beating the Cowboys. Now it can only get better if they can hold on for the win.

it wasn't worth the wait to be honest. I may just pick up the nano fir like £14 and sell my touch to get an iPhone !

Ah well better than nothing I guess

Maybe I was being hopeful or unrealistic, but does nobody else feel a bit disappointed?
£95 off a nano..that isn't even a free nano. They could at least give a rebate for the whole £109.
And America got ~£150 rebate.

Sure it's still nice, and I'll be buying my macbook, but meh!

But from the looks of things, we get a new Macbooks.

I'm not disappointed at all.

Yeah, if you have the luxury of not needing it for another month. I do, I'm starting uni in a couple of weeks so can't really hold off

i wonder if I will be entitled if I sign up for the part time basket weaving course at my local college.

I just ordered the 24" 2.8ghz iMac for £999 & got the £95 rebate on 4th yen ipod & the canon all in one printer with £60 rebate (gonna sell old ipod & printer)
I don't have Uni access yet so just had to scan my acceptance letter so got full discount!
My brother gave me his old iPhone too so will sell old mobile so I'm set to get some money back from that too!

Well chuffed! :)))))))

Went in to an Apple store yesterday and I finally have it all! Already upgraded MB to 4GB from crucial. Got new black ipod. Printer. Incase sleeve. Wireless mighty mouse. USB hub. The works :p Spending £984 was a leap of faith but will be getting £155 rebate plus selling my old nano video.

Computing is fun again!
