Hi! I don't know if this question has been asked already - but if I pre-ordered for pick up at my local store, I won't get tracking or anything right? I think that's what I read somewhere but wasn't sure.

Got charged from Apple yesterday.
Correct, in-store never has any tracking associated with it. Apple will only tell you when your pick-up is ready.

Did you contact UPS and ask them to deliver it to your local store? If so, you should still get tracking info, but isn't it too early to make that request?

I know but it haven’t even arrived in Seoul yet but who knows where the plane will go after Seoul it might go to ZZ and pick up our phones an go back to Seoul
Just checked FlightAware and it doesn’t look like there’s any UPS flights in or out of ZhengZhou today at all whatsoever unfortunately. It would be nice to see some movement though.

They are - mostly for influencers, Apple employees, contractors, cellular providers and Apple Stores.

Apple warehouses located all over the country.

Had mine delivered locally during the 14 launch instead of China.
I have a feeling a large chunk of the regular 16/+ are already in the US at warehouses. Everything I’ve seen with movement from China has been for pro devices. Both of my regular 16s (128gb/Teal/Ultramarine) are prepared for shipping, pending on Apple Card, but nothing in MyChoice yet.

Btw, I see people discussing cases. I’m not advocating, but want to share my experience.

I had aluminum iPhone XR and had very bad experience using it without case. One minor drop and it had dent on a side.
But since I switched to iPhone 13 Pro Max (Blue Sierra), I decided to use it without case because I liked the color. And I used it without case (just with screen protector) for 3 years, and I can say that experience was awesome. It is so lighter and thinner without case. I dropped it multiple times on different surfaces through these years, but this thing is TOUGH. It has some scratches on a frame, but no dents, glasses are perfectly fine and overall the phone still looks great. I plan to use my new 16 Pro Max Desert Titanium without the case too.
I’ve been using my 15P without a case. It took some getting used to, but now I love it. I’ve dropped it a couple of times, but no scratches or dings. But since I’m trading it in on Friday I got paranoid and slapped a case on it. But I don’t like how bulky it feels. I have a case for my 16P Desert Titanium, but I’ll probably only use it if I don’t like the color.

Though to be fair it’s almost Tuesday in China :)
and UPS does schedule flights in such short notice sometimes if you look at loui departures for UPS today theres only 2 when there’s usually a whole bunch so who knows

Seeing the same thing here my 16 pro is in China and 16 is unseen so far. Both have been charged on my card and are in preparing for shipment status. Saw the same thing last year with my 15 Pro and my wife's 15. Hers started in Tennessee

Sorry man...I got skunked too. I entered my order for Friday 815am in-store pickup and submitted my order. I was paying with Apple Pay and the payment failed twice with 2 different cards. Called my banks and both said nothing was declined and nothing was attempted by Apple. I can only assume servers were overloaded as other people had the same issue. No option but to wait until it launches on Friday and hope I find a store with stock. A month from now it won't matter...
Ahh bummer!!! At least we can share in on the misery ha. I just wish if something declined or got canceled, that they would give you a grace period to fix the issue.

Is anyone actually seeing their order go to “shipped” on Apple.com or the Apple Store app? I see my shipment using the order number (minus the last two digits) on UPS.com as a reference number but Apple.com still hasn’t said it’s shipped.

What’s this mean? Just a label is printed? Hasn’t actually been put on a plane?

I think so, because my apple store order got charged already and that means they had to physically scan them for that to happen, my Att account already has the iPhone 16 agreement ready to go on wireless devices section. That was fast though.

What happened to Anchorage? I thought they went from ZZ to Incheon to Anchorage to Lousiville. I’ve been in this forum every year for years but what do I know, maybe I’m wrong. In any case, they‘ll all get to us on Sept 20 if that’s what we were promised, with almost no exceptions.
Your phone is not in Louisville. What you're seeing in AfterShip is a "hidden" scan for the pre-auth of Customs clearance in the US. Your phone is still in China, and will still move from ZZ to (if we're following past years) either Incheon, KR or Chen Lap Kok, Hong Kong, then to Anchorage for fuel, then to Louisville, and from there to your regional hub.

That advance customs scan trips people up every year if you don't know to expect it.

Correct - if you selected in store pick-up (ISPU), you won't get any individual tracking, because the phones will be tracked to the store, not to you personally. You get to be excited when you get the "ready for pickup" notification usually on Thursday evening. :)

Still preparing to ship on Apple, but thanks to UPS My Choice, it shows that my order is in transit from Zhengzhou, I don't expect to see anymore updates from UPS until Tue/Wed as my phone passes through customs and gets to Louisville

Apple won't update their order status to "Shipped" until your phone clears customs in Kentucky at the UPS Hub. Everything going on now is ahead of Apple's updates, and just using UPS status updates.
