There is an Atlas Air 8171 that left Zhengzhou at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday and is to land in Anchorage at 6:39 p.m. Monday. This could be the "wave 1" plane. 🤷‍♂️
Yes we will get confirmation once we know where GTI8171 goes from ANC or the tracking changes to match a UPS flight to SDF. It currently still running late due to a late start and diversion around weather.

We'll know in about 5 hours if people get an arrival scan in Anchorage.

I know in the past a dedicated UPS aircraft has operated the CGO-ANC-SDF as a single flight number. That Atlas Air service goes onward to Mexico City, so this flight may not be applicable to the iPhone pre-orders (that Hong Kong leg appears to be a discontinuity).

I've read that regular iPhone 16s are selling much better than the Pro models.
At my three local stores there are no 16PMs available, and there are a couple of 1T 16Ps. But almost all of the regular 16s have availability, although some of the larger sizes of pink are sold out. Based on that very unscientific sample, the Pros are selling better. But, of course, there's no way to know what the original number of phones was. It could have been much smaller than the number of non-pro phones. Or people who want Pro phones are just a bit more OCD about getting them fast. Or any number of other reasons.

Here is a quote for yesterday:
According to new pre-order analysis from Ming Chi-Kuo, Apple is facing less demand for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max than expected. iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have had more sales compared to last years iPhones, though.
Kuo did some analysis over the weekend, based on ship times on Apple’s website, as well as a “supply chain survey.” Based on the first weekend of pre-orders, Kuo found the following:

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max is down 16% compared to last year
  • iPhone 16 Pro is down 27% compared to last year
  • iPhone 16 Plus is up 48% compared to last year
  • iPhone 16 is up 10% compared to last year
Interestingly, it seems like people are far more interested in the regular iPhones than the pros this year, especially the larger sized model.

Overall, the iPhone 16 lineup as a whole sold around 37 million units, down around 12.7% from the iPhone 15 lineup on the first weekend. Despite massive growth with the iPhone 16 Plus, the decline in iPhone 16 Pro demand is far outweighing it.

Seeing how excited everybody here is for the new iPhone is cool. I'm getting the 16 PM and decided to check out these forums and made an account with all the hype, lol—cool tips on how to track your phone.
Welcome to the party!

I’ve been refreshing on Apple’s website (checking the same three stores) to see if I can pick up a Pro in store. I preordered a Pro Max but I think I want to downsize instead. Today for the Pro, I’ve seen some 256GB options available, one 512GB, and multiple 1TB. I really only need 128GB of storage but I’d get a 256GB if available. The 256GB are gone within minutes though so you have to be fast.

I ordered a black 256 16 Pro within the first couple minutes of the store opening, mine currently says 17th @ 1:35am, so I guess I’m in wave one as well.

My tracking number has not shown up yet in My Choice, and is still being shown as preparing for shipment on Apple. I could see the partial tracking number by looking up by reference.

I called UPS and they were able to give me the tracking number based on all of the info I was able to provide, but what I was told is that it is currently in Louisville awaiting customs, and will not show an update until it passes through. I do not know how trustworthy that is, however.

Yes I was looking for a UPS flight but there don’t seem to be any. I’m tracking 8171 hoping hoping…it’s just fun to watch it fly its route from ZZ to Anchorage.
