If I can’t preorder for store pick up on launch day, am I better off going to Apple Store early before they open, wait in line and hope to snag an iPhone 16 pro max if they have one?

Apple’s policy on their website says a package may only be held for pickup after a failed delivery attempt. It was posted earlier in this thread but I have no idea which post it was now.

That policy might be for the iPhone preorders? Or new? I honestly have no idea, I have never purchased an iPhone from Apple.. but I can post the screenshots I made and the order email I got when I ordered my Mac last month…which very clearly say something completely different than what Apple did. I even got an apology from Apple.

It’s been from last fall after iPhone launch . I ordered a MBP last November and it was restricted delivery as well .

Which is fine if Apple had said that on their website (apparently they are saying it now?).

I would just have ordered it from somewhere else if I had known.

The phone is a flop. There will be no line, and they will have plenty in stock. Enjoy your new phone!

It’s on their shopping page:

Pick up package at carrier's local facility

After the first delivery attempt, you can request to pick up your package at our carrier's local facility. Call the number on the carrier's Delivery Notice and inform them you'd like to pick up your package in person.

Got a “Cleared Import Customs” notification on aftership nothing on ups. Wonder if we’ll start seeing Import scans shortly.

My iPhone is still in KY, chilling with the other iPhones.

Honest question: does UPS work on the customs clearance as soon as iPhones arrive, or they wait until a specific time so that the process goes straight to sorting, loading, and departure?

Most of the shipments are pre-cleared before it hits the US. The customs time stamp usually occurs when they start to break down the pallets during the sort tomorrow sometime.

I’ve used several Torras cases the last few years, have been really happy with them. My go to anymore. Good price and products. Just got there 10,000Ah MagSafe battery pack too. It’s very nice too.
I use a Torras screen protector on my 15PM and absolutely love it. The installation tool is first class.

I have the 16PM version ready for my new iPhone.

I was wondering the same thing. You'd think UPS would want to get them cleared and sent to the regional facilities as quickly as possible, but that doesn't seem to be how it works. I can't even guess how many phones are on each flight - they're obviously on pallets so can they clear them in batches or something?

Historically, the majority are sequestered at SDF until the Thursday night sort. There have been years where some shipments have bypassed Worldport and went direct to ONT and PHL.

I literally spent the whole day on the phone with Verizon and UPS.

I spoke to a total of seven reps. Not one told me that. Even after I asked about it multiple times.

What you’re telling me makes complete sense though, and I just figured the UPS/Verizon reps must be bonkers!

Thank you.
In my experience with VZW, if I missed the delivery, I have been able to contact UPS via the number on the door tag. They allowed me to pick up the package once the driver returned to the hub or at a later date, depending on the time the driver would return from the route.

It should be around 300k phones on the flight if it is an exclusive iPhone flight.
