Other đź“±đź“±U.S.A. - Apple.com - New iPhone 16/Plus/Pro/Pro Max US Pre-Orders, Orders, and Delivery Status Thread (2024)

For those worried about a signature being required what usually works as long as a direct signature isn't required is printing out the tracking page asking the driver to leave the package and signing it. They will usually take that as a release. You may also try this form.

Same mine doesn't show it. When I clicked driver instructions and choose to have it left at the front door something about an electronic signature release came up and i checked it. Also if you ask the automated chat it says that if a signature was required it would show on the top of the tracking.

Mine says signature is required and gives an option to pre-sign. I don’t know if it’s safe. It also says “someone” needs to sign it. So probably mailroom employee should be fine.

... or maybe they're just overworked answering the same question over and over and over again from people who want special treatment that is contrary to the published procedures ... #justsayin

I am not seeing this published on Verizon.com…do you have a link?

Verizon does have a pretty rotten website though….

As for Apple, I have never ordered an iPhone from Apple before, but I did order a Mac from them last month. The package they sent me was also restriction locked, despite Apple.com and my Order e-mail stating I could have it held for pickup at my location of choice.

When I pointing this out to an Apple rep, they did contact UPS directly and arrange to have the Mac held for pickup….as their official policy states…

I have a question. I’m in multi apartment building with mailroom. Will UPS require my signature or
the signature of mailroom employee is enough? Any experience?
Depends on your driver.

I have package lockers at my apartment and the driver will sign for it and put it in the locker for me to get later. I much prefer that than them attempting redelivery because I couldn't sign for it.

One year before I worked at home I did pre-sign and they still didn’t leave the package. I would leave the name of the mailroom employee that will sign for it so noting happens

Use your ups app and you can tell them to leave at a reception area or if you have a management office.

This might also change once phones go through customs if they are some of the ones coming from china. I've seen options become available after that but we will see.

My order (which is through Verizon) is already in Pennsylvania on its way to me. I will keep my eyes open tomorrow, but I am honestly not expecting anything to change.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.
True!

I made a joke a week ago or so saying there should be a post of questions asked by a lot of people. It was after answering the same question at least 10 times, i thinka few on the very same page, and probably more than 100 times when previous years of threads are included.

I think the UPS communication was more complete this year, more consistently applied stamps to events in the journey. Previous years had a stamp out of Anchorage but not everyone got an arrival stamp in Louisville. For several days those phones just disappeared. To my knowledge no one mentioned a missing phone after Anchorage departure stamp. So many frantic iPhone trackers! That certainly helped.

I used that form last year, the driver did not leave the package. When I called UPS they told me that Apple does not allow the use of the form or signed notes or releases. They require a signature from an adult at the time and point of delivery.

Since I shipped to my office this year, I haven’t been able to use my choice (can’t register a commercial address) so since international customer service got me my tracking number I reached out to UPS via the app formerly known as Twitter and asked if they can give me a delivery window. Looks like 9:15 to 12:15. If that remains true, I’ll have my 16PM by lunch time and can spend my break setting it up and wiping my trade in so that my coworker can box it up and take it to FedEx once my trade in kit arrives while I’m out of the country.

Come on UPS, don’t let me down. I don’t want to stay at the office until 8pm.
Businesses usually get prioritized over residential for package deliveries since they close earlier. My dad used to do the same thing with our Christmas presents.

Speaking of accessories, I was going to avoid using a scree protector, but changed my mind last minute. Ordered a Torras one that’s getting delivered tomorrow. Hopefully the edges aren’t as thick and sharp as the Belkin one from last year.
I’ve used several Torras cases the last few years, have been really happy with them. My go to anymore. Good price and products. Just got there 10,000Ah MagSafe battery pack too. It’s very nice too.

That’s what’s on my 15PM and I ordered two different version of the Torras cases for my 16PM. Love them. You have fine taste.

I got a silicone case delivered yesterday and they required a signature, despite not saying on the tracking page.
As someone else said, I think this is up to UPS driver discretion. Today UPS delivered an Apple clear case that I ordered from Apple. The driver simply dropped it on my porch and ran.

Has anyone had any luck arranging to hold their iPhone delivery at UPS for pickup? I first tried contacting UPS today, but they told me the shipper needs to arrange it. So, I reached out to Apple, but they said since the package hasn’t technically shipped, they can’t make changes. However, my iPhone has clearly shipped—I have a tracking number and can see it sitting in Kentucky. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
NOPE - Apple agreement with UPS prohibits CC pickup at UPS hubs due to large numbers of people demanding their phone and giving the CC staff a hard time over the past years.

Neighbor delivery is free.

UPS Store - next day is available for a fee....

I never used a screen protector or case on any of my iPhones until my 13 Pro. I believe it when I read that the more resistant they make these to cracking, the more prone they are to scratching. I had a 1/8” scratch on my 13 Pro screen within a week of having it, with no idea of how it got there. Who knows, maybe a piece of sand or dirt in my pocket? I immediately put a screen protector on. Started with a Spigen one but that didn’t agree with my polarized sunglasses. My ESR one lasted nearly three years before it got a small crack. I’m not rolling the dice with the screen this time. I have the same Torras ones as you, waiting to be applied (ESR with the black edges wasn’t yet available). The ESR has rounded edges and was really nice, like the Torras is supposed to be.

Apple most definitely does allow it they even give it to you to print if they show signature required on the site.

So strange, i never saw another iPhone customer in all the years I picked up my phone at my CC! I enjoyed the CC staff and they seemed pleased to reduced the number of truck deliveries for their drivers. Entire process took about 30 seconds!

It puzzles me how people will order something to be delivered and then scramble to figure out how to get the delivery because of any number of circumstances that were there when they placed the order. Can’t be there for delivery, schedule to pick it up at an Apple Store when placing your order.

well in fairness..... i ordered my watch on keynote day for delivery fully expecting to get delivery of my phone.... unfortunately the dates for my phone were in oct and i'm impatient so decided to cancel my original watch order and place an ISPU for it. then ordered hubby's for ISPU (even though his would have been available for home delivery)

then found out that i couldn't cancel the original watch order! so it's been sitting in PTS for a week.... hasn't moved... but i still coudln't/can't cancel it! so hopefully they will send that one signature required and take it back rather than leave it on the porch for porch pirates to take while i'm at apple!

My thought exactly haha Or just have it delivered to your job like I’m doing. Someone is going to be there all day.
