I've ordered 5 phones, 4 watches, & 5 phone cases over 11 orders. The phones & watches are each separate. Two of the watches will go to my sister's address & 2 will come to me. Because of the 'must ship to address of carrier billing', all 5 phones will come to me. I have 4 packages showing on UPS. Two of them are the watches & I know this because the reference number is the entire order number - starting with W & using all digits. Those two packages are label created, not yet in UPS possession. The other two packages are from Apple but the reference numbers have nothing to do with phone numbers or order numbers. Both have a delivery date of the 20th, & both are coming from China. I'm assuming these are two of the phones, but the reference numbers are couple of E10Y... & a QAR...
The watches also have a QAR... reference but I can't see how it relates to the order in any way

My phone (non-carrier activate later) was with a batch that was already pre-staged at a regional hub in the US (Ontario, CA); the retail store ones are palletized separately from the delivery ones. Tracking wise, it looked like mine wasn't with the rest of the flights flying out of China. The first scan finally showed up the day of delivery, and it was UPS overnight express from that hub. Thus people shouldn't freak out if they don't see any originating scans out of China.

Yes, mine was exactly the same - delivery was from the Ontario, CA Apple warehouse too.

Yes, scared me when I saw no movement until the day before launch day.

FedEx ground was used since it was a local delivery even on launch day.

I thought that might have been it, that I wasn't taking off the last two digits of the Apple order number, but I tried that and still get this message, so I guess a label hasn't been created yet since it's not in UPS MyChoice either. :(

It’s weird. Everyone mentions UPS which mine is scheduled for this year. But I could have sworn before it was FedEx delivery for me on launch day. I could be wrong since memory ain’t as good as it used to be. Memory is just good for the useless things I shouldn’t remember these days 🤣

The iPhone 4 was dropped by Fedex but after that it's be UPS fro the phones, mac's, watches, and iPad.

Exactly why i choose in store pickup if available, ups delivers around 4-6 and on iPhone release days 8-9pm.
 
For those with phones that have tracking numbers: Does your reference number match your Apple order number minus two digits at the end? I’ve never been able to find a package via reference number and I have suspicions that searching by order number will not work for most.

When I order launch day Macs and Apple watches, they typically ship via FedEx.

When I pre-ordered my Studio Mac & Display Studio week before the launch day, mine was delivered FedEx Ground via nearby Rialto, CA Apple warehouse.

The only issue at that time was the Apple Card didn't have as much credit available and I could have charged it on Apple's 24 month 0% financing but the credit utilization would have gone to 75% which would seriously drop my credit score for utilization.

So I charged it on pre-order day on my Chase credit card which has a much larger credit limit but was declined as Chase thought my purchase was a fraud ($5,000).

Even after clearing it with Chase, Apple could not charge it so I ended up charging it on my AMEX Plat card and got the order to process.

Once it was about to ship, I called Apple again to do a media swap back to the Chase card. Approved and shipped.

Nope. I have 4 different reference numbers and none are even close to my order number.

Sometimes your order number minus the last two works, some years I use my cell number has the refernece, some years I use the email I used for the order.

Never get gold. Went desert titanium this year. 16 Pro Max, 256 GB. Got it thru Verizon. It shipped about 10 min ago yay

Years of tracking packages and I’ve never been able to use this method. Really makes me think it’s nothing more than a rumor, or a “false” hit on some random UPS reference number that has no association with our phones, ha.

Interesting. When you look it up by reference number, does it actually give you tracking details?

I searched that way on the UPS website and it worked, but showed the tracking number x’d out except for the last four digits. I hadn’t seen that before. Then I opened up the UPS app and the whole thing was already there anyway.

Even with it shipping now and receiving it into the US, do people realize that their phones will sit in the SDF warehouse until the day before launch ?

Must drive people crazy ???

I did mine in Devon on a road trip. I love where you are. Please have an ice cream Phils ice cream shop. One of the most gorgeous hotels in Noto. Enjoy

I have noticed in the past that for whatever reason you’ll find it via reference number before it shows in my choice. Also try your phone number as sometimes it’s different for different people. My case I ordered from Apple this week for example, order number wouldn’t bring it up, but my phone number did
 
My order is still processing but still shows an arrival date of Friday, September 20th. It's not a store pickup order.
