Awesome, I was waiting for this day. Hope the bill passes and we get a better device without the Bloatware/BloatApp and user get a choice to install/use their preferred apps ...
Exactly! And no phone, messaging, or contacts. Looks like you just bought yourself a fancy paperweight! And since the store is an app you won't even be able to do that.
Anything remotely considered bloatware (for me, the Tips app) can be uninstalled in fewer than 5 seconds by long pressing and tapping x.Awesome, I was waiting for this day. Hope the bill passes and we get a better device without the Bloatware/BloatApp and user get a choice to install/use their preferred apps ...
The difference is Microsoft was licensing their OS and telling manufacturers what they could and couldn’t put on devices they were having to make and sell. The difference here is unlike Android, Apple makes The whole device and software. It’s like Honda designing a new Accord but being told they can’t use their own engine and must give consumers the option to put a Ford engine in.Microsoft was almost broken up because they installed IE on Windows PCs 25 years ago. What Apple, Microsoft, and Google have gotten away with the past 15 years or so is incredibly far beyond that.
This legislation makes total sense and I support it.
Monopolies are a bad thing folks.
How do we do that in that case, as there is no app to download the apps. And: do not expect to be able to use that thing as a phone, as there will be no phone app...Awesome, I was waiting for this day. Hope the bill passes and we get a better device without the Bloatware/BloatApp and user get a choice to install/use their preferred apps ...
Tell us what monopoly Google Apple Samsung has? There are all kinds of choices. If there were no choices I’d say you’re correct. Apple has lord knows how many other smartphones competing against them how many smart speakers how many computers same with Samsung Google may be a little iffy but there is DuckDuckGo and who knows how many other search engines. Sure Google is the people choose to use most but not everyone doesMicrosoft was almost broken up because they installed IE on Windows PCs 25 years ago. What Apple, Microsoft, and Google have gotten away with the past 15 years or so is incredibly far beyond that.

Maybe the engine should be optional. Also remember the store brand products are usually made in the same plantSo Ford or GMC would not be able to put their Mapping software into the vehicles. Maybe we should be able to load or own software into the computers of our own vehicles, that way we can get better gas mileage at the cost of clean air.
Smart TVs will not be able to load it’s own software for it to work as a smart TV as the software was written by the TV manufacturer.
Soon when you go into a grocery store, they will not be able to sell you products that have the store’s name on it ss they are usually cheaper than the brand name products.
This makes no sense at all.
