I've never camp out to Apple product opening before but I did camp out to Star Wars episode II when I was 16 lol. It was a fun experience. I remember there were people dress up as Jedi's and people having lightsaber fights. One of these days I have to do it again because I'm getting too old

BTW,
I bet everybody in line either has one of the following:
1. An iPod (any kind)
2. An iPhone
3. An iPad
4. A MacBook (Pro or Air)

Oh yeah, everyone out here is rocking one or the other. I'm on my macbook stealing the Apple stores WiFi. Everyone is super nice and were having a great time.

If you pre-ordered it, great for you! Some of us like the experience of this, one isn't better than the other, it is simply personal preference.

I don't need anymore experience atm. I saw 3 iPhone and 2 iPad launches as a Mac Genius. It's one hell of a rush. :D

I realize this is really random.. but does anyone else find it a little eerie how identical Apple stores are across the world?

1 MONTH BEFORE NEW IPHONE LAUNCH

Week 1: Oh man, what a letdown. Apple totally failed. I'm getting Android.

Week 2: It's still a good phone, but totally not worth it to upgrade.

Week 3: Hmmm, I'm thinking about it, but man that 64GB is expensive!

Week 4: Been waiting in line in front of store for 3 weeks! CAN'T WAIT! :D

Yeah that sounds about right. Sadly I'm in the boat.. and knew I would be. Granted i'm on a 5yo flip phone, so it's ... it's different... *justifies to self*

Yeah, I loved waiting in a Q outside an Apple store for 5 hours last year in hot sunshine. NOT

I'm not making that mistake again. This time UPS is doing the hard work and 30 mins ago dropped off my new iPhone whilst I had my feet up laughing about people sitting outside stores before 4am.

Also, why do people have to take all their Apple gear to show off in front others in the Q? Look, i have a Macbook, an iPad 2 and a 160GB iPod classic. Well good for you. Am I impressed? Nope because I have all of these at home.

"Analysts have expressed disappointment in the iPhone 4S" on CNN web news this morning. Imagine how long the lines would be if it were any good?

Obviously somebody hasn't read the review from places like USAToday, NYTimes, etc. The preorder numbers speak for themselves.

So glad I ordered online.

All I had to do was send an email to my local phone company here in Charlotte and they ordered 2 for me and will bill me when they arrive AND they will even drop by my office to give them to me when they arrive. Guess I'm spoiled since ordering online is something I don't even have to do.

The Australian lines are probably that long because the pre-orders for Australia shipped late and probably won't arrive till mid next week.

EDIT: If you're in Australia and your order hasn't arrived try emailing Tim Cook, there's a good chance they'll compensate you with a $50 online store coupon.

There are several reasons someone would want to buy in store as oppose to preorder.. Shipping delays are a major one. Also, here in Canada we don't have Visa/MC debit cards like in the US, Aus, etc. so the only way to pay without using a 'credit' credit card is by PIN debit, in-person only. I hate using credit so I'll be picking mine up at a Best Buy in a couple hours.

Sounds great if you don't mind having zero control over when you'll have yours or having no way to check your order status online etc. I wouldn't trust that, but that's just me. I'll believe I can have one when I see it physically in my hands.

New 4s

i might have the settings wrong at the moment but Siri will only work with wifi which for me means that i am at home. also it can't open maps or look for an address unless you in the good old USA. you can open maps either on 3g how useless is that you can only see a map when you are at home DISSAPOINTING

Always seemed like it would be a fun idea to stand in line for a new product. Being with other Apple fans and the like. But I have a job and wouldn't be able to unless it was on a weekend. I ordered on line from Verizon and it says my phone is scheduled for delivery by 3PM EST. A lot less dramatic way of getting my first iphone.

Got here to Best Buy at 530...only 2 other people here and all 3 of us are sitting in our vehicles as nobody is here so I'm pretty optimistic about getting my white 4S 16gb this morning befor work...my boss is letting me come in late!!! I love my boss!!

I'm just happy UPS is delivering this year. Had problems with FedEx before not wanting to come out my driveway and being scared of my harmless dog lol.

Loved this snippet from the SMH coverage:

Blogger Ruby Jacenko claims she was the first Australian to get her hands on an iPhone 4S, publishing photos of herself with the device on her blog yesterday. She did not explain how she got the early access.
