First inline at Phillipsburg Mall AT&T store!

Is 8am a special opening time? I'm sure they always open at 8am here in the UK, I used to pop into an Apple Store on my way into university in the mornings.

All I had to do was send an email to my local phone company here in Charlotte and they ordered 2 for me and will bill me when they arrive AND they will even drop by my office to give them to me when they arrive. Guess I'm spoiled since ordering online is something I don't even have to do.

You, are one cool dude.

All went spiffingly well at the O2 shop, Stroud (Gloucestershire, England). Turned up 30 mins before the 08:02 early opening, was number 9 in the queue. Given free juice (and offered muffins & meusli bars). Given a card with the colour & size I wanted, so that everyone knew how many of which item was left.

Come 8:02 the doors opened, and there were around 15 behind me in the queue, and by the time I made it in at 8:35, a handful more. There were still models available. The sales were taking slightly longer than expected as the 'fast system was not working', so they had to process the orders using a slower method. However, no-one was asking for the 'phones to be set up or demo'd, so that the queue moved faster.

10 mins later, out I came with sparkly new 4S, and in to work by normal time.

just walked by 2 tmobile an 1 vodafone store here i germany and saw barely people ^^ maybe 4 in the store tops

I just went over to the Tyson's Corner Mall to see the line at 7am. It wasn't too bad of a line. The Apple employee said they have more than enough phones to accommodate for the line and more since it's on 3 different carriers. I had to go to work so maybe I'll stop by during lunch.

Do they have separate "iphone only" lines? Or does everybody who wants to shop Apple have to wait in line (the poor souls who want an accessory)?

For the ipad 2 launch, I got my ipad at walmart but they didnt have the covers, so I went to the apple store, still like 30 min after launch and the line was all the way around the mall plaza, so I walked up to the head of the line, and asked, and the girl there let me in. EVERYONE in line booed and hissed... and when I went out with my bag people were thinking I had got an ipad and were yelling at me and calling me names. I just smiled really big and waved to everyone.

I'm gonna miss standing in line this year, I preordered. Where is UPS?

No, some of us are just young and like the experience. We don't all have to put on a tie and be at work at 9am. You only live once, so why no just live it up?

"Standing in line, waiting for the store to open" is "living it up" to you guys...?

Standing in line for a consumer product is living it up these days?

Sorry, but if that is setting the bar very low.

I've been so indecisive about upgrading from my 32GB iPhone 4, to the 4S. I'd be buying one out of contract, and upgrading from a phone that is in perfect working order. I can confirm however that The Woodlands, Texas store had about 50 people in line when I arrived. Best of luck to those of you in line waiting, enjoy your new phones! :D

I pre-ordered the last couple years but I have waited in line for the first iPhone, the 3G and both iPads.
I did have a great time each time I did the wait in line thing, you meat some great people and Apple employee's are great even gave out bottled water etc.
I would still do it if there was no Pre-order.
Even though I pre-ordered its still tempting to go wait in line, it's a very cool experience. I'll have mine at my door today as I just checked my tracking and it's in Ontario getting ready to be put on truck to my house in Southern California......

The queue in Regent Street, London is not very long now, five hours after opening, probably a lot less than 100 people, they have a queue barrier system in Hanover Square which is completley empty. Since last year Covent Garden and I think westfield East have opened.

Sounds great if you don't mind having zero control over when you'll have yours or having no way to check your order status online etc. I wouldn't trust that, but that's just me. I'll believe I can have one when I see it physically in my hands.

Didn't have any problem getting 3g or 4 on launch day hand delivered to my desk ;)
