Well...that was annoying. Thankfully I was wearing AirPods Max throughout the entire thing, which isolated it to just one alert, and kept it quiet. Neato.

And y'all said I was gonna blow out my ears. 😂
So the sound from the alert did not come out of the airpods max. Great for apple for doing that. I don't know if my soundcore Bluetooth earbuds would do the sane so I did not chance it.

Well, came through anyway, as I'm sure you found out. Stuff like this should not be optional. If a state issues an evacuation order, its delivery should not depend on whether some guy decided to "opt out".
Internet, TV and radio seem like enough.

What's even the point of the toggle for turning off test alerts? Does it ever work?

I got the test alert in Germany several months ago, and the one in the US today. I guess you can at least turn off the sound in silent mode, maybe that toggle actually works.

Indeed. I had my iPhone off when the test was supposed to happen. Fifteen minutes later, I turn the phone on, and despite the government alert settings being disabled:
*BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!*
"AAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOHHH!!!"
Did you get a message? I have it off too and my Android still vibrated like crazy, but I saw no message anywhere

The people whining about this must not live in a place with flash flooding, hurricanes, or tornadoes. Personally I'd prefer to be warned about my possible impending death or need to evacuate. What nefarious purpose could this even be used for? At absolute worst (ie you never get it sent for a "useful" reason) it's a minor annoyance once every.... 3 years... They test fire alarms once a year!

And not the one device that most people have on them at all times? Sure, guy, that makes sense.
So I guess you were in the dark about the last hurricane to hit Florida? Or heard nothing about Covid? There are plenty of means to get information. I doubt this is really necessary.
