Something tells me a lot of the people lining up budgeted for a $600-1000 phone. I understand that it has been quite awhile since we had a Mac Pro update, but most people probably haven't been using all that time to budget for a $4000 computer. I'm sure most users of iPhones aren't the power users that need a Mac Pro.
Lot more people get more daily use out of an iDevice than they would get from a Mac Pro. A bit overkill of a machine for your average user to play farmville on or change their fantasy football rosters.
If you get one soon can you share? I think I'm waiting until 3am to see what shipping times look like then I may do the same.

Looks like he is right for gray 16GB... it might be stock dependent. I checked silver and gold and no go for att. Only 16GB gray is available for full price no contract.
Bah! Got very excited for a minute. Every store in the South Bay/Central Coast shows as "unavailable".
Maybe because I want a 64gb gold. Oh well - just another 1/2 hour to preorder and then whenever it gets here it gets here.
Yeah I tried silver/gold and different sizes... and found grey 16gig was available in my area.
Think there is any way to verify now before the email?
If I get 7-10 days shipping (AKA oct. 3), it may be worth the 5 or so hour investment to ride the bus as close as I can get and do an hour of walking each way...
Just seems sketchy. You really think they'll have them to pick up though? Sounds too good to be true almost.
I wish I could give you a solid answer.. but no way to know until they send the follow up "pick up" email.
Hm. Tough to decide between Oct 3 and seemingly tomorrow... just don't trust them myself. But ok.

For hype I think, to juice-up us fan-boys. There's no reason these days why Apple couldn't pre-prepare the content and just push it out without service interruption.
Hmm, so not sure about the Best Buy website. It shows Pre-order - Pick it up on release day for all of the phones. But, it also says Order today, pick up at:

I went through the list until I got my local store and it seems to have worked. I'm not 100% on it. I get the "iffy" feeling.. but figured why not. I got the first confirmation email... so guess I'll find out.
If it's this bad for a puny iPhone 5S, imagine the iPad Mini Retina w/TouchID sensor. I'm going to be camping out a week before!

It does not feel too much like scalping if they start it at retail cost and allow the buyers to state how much they are willing to pay by bidding higher. If they start a phone at a thousand dollars than the scalper label would apply.
