Close on the heels of Apple's announcement that it received over 600,000 pre-orders for iPhone 4 yesterday, the company has once again delayed shipping estimates for new pre-orders in the United States.

Last night, the company sold out of its initial stock for the device's June 24th launch, pushing new pre-orders out to a July 2nd shipping date. The company apparently burned through that second wave of supplies in only about 16 hours, however, as the online Apple Store is now showing shipping dates of July 14th for new pre-orders of both 16 GB and 32 GB iPhone 4 models.

Meanwhile, AT&T's iPhone pre-ordering system remains offline as the carrier attempts to catch up from yesterday's rush and gauge future supplies.

This is crazy. Glad I was able to reserve one for June 24th pickup at Apple store.

Got my order in early this morning after several DOZEN attemps yesterday... My ship date is July 2nd ! Whew!!

I have two coming to my house and picking up one on launch day :D

I'm wondering how many have been sold in the first 24+ hours.

Why did AT&T have to make almost EVERYBODY upgrade eligible for the launch day? It's nice that they gifted all those people an advance on their upgrade, but couldn't they have spread them out over the month of July?

mhhh did anybody buy 2 and is planning on selling 1? ;)

I have three and I'm planning on selling 2 of them.

AT&T isn't resetting the eligibility. I have been able to purchase 3, two 16 GB at $199 and one 32 GB at $299. I have a single line account.

One of each will be for sale at their $599 and $699 price points respectively.

THANKS AT&T!

I wonder what it means that I never got an email confirmation after getting a successful completion on apple's site.

Someone tell me why? How?

Why might orders be so brisk?
  1. iPhone 4 perceived as faster 4G connection.
  2. People actually expect video conferencing to work before 2011.
  3. Fell in love with new design.
Don't get me wrong. It's a nice upgrade to pacify users until 4G is available but people are acting like this iPhone is the only fresh water after a natural disaster.

Was there ever a doubt that this would be wildly popular? It'll be a long wait to get mine.

Predicting the next announcement from Apple:

We're sorry to announce that all international launches of the iPhone 4 has been pushed by another year to June 1st, 2011. We never thought the US market would actually want one but they did.

I don't care about the black ones. They can stop making them forever for all i care. WHEN ARE WE GETTING WHITE ONES?!?!
