well the apple stores on the 24th are doing a limit of 2 per customer so preorders could definitely b the same.

2 per customer makes sense but this is 2 different order numbers at the 199 price on the same line. Definitely a glitch in the system. Oh well, I'll just wait and see. If they don't catch it I'll offload the first one on the 24th. Pretty sure I can get more than 600 for it from someone who wants one NOW. I'll wait till the 8th.

If you used the Apple Store App on the iPhone it's in your name under your Apple ID. That's how I got mine, I can only assume if you reserved one on the website you still had to log in somehow. It's all under your apple ID.

+1.

Log into the Apple Store App, and under reservations you'll see your 7am reservation.

As for people spreading doom that people who reserved won't get it... there's no way that'll happen. The e-mail, while it does have some boilerplate "no guarantee" at the bottom, does mention that your device will be held for the entire day. The fine print in the bottom of the e-mail is there in case of catastrophe so you can't sue apple for giving you a phone a day late or anything. If Apple didn't fulfill reservations there'd be a LOT of negative press and pissed off customers, there's no way that'll happen.

As someone who reserved the 3GS, if they run it like they did last year (and they probably will), there will be two lines, a reserved line, and a "I just got here today" line. At my store, before they even opened the doors they had someone come out and get everyone's name and the model they pre-ordered to make sure everything was in order.

Apple knows how to launch a product, and I'm sure launch day will go *relatively* smoothly (or at least as smoothly as a lunch of 600,000+ devices in a single day can be expected to go).

FYI, for those who are paranoid about their 'order' status, I just now received my email confirmation from Apple that my phone will ship on the 24th as my order on the Apple site stated (which I printed to a local file just in case).

I did login to Apple today and my order status was there and basically said the same thing. I guess their email acknowledgment systems had to be put on low priority to handle the other traffic from yesterday and today.

Looking forward to next Thursday!! :D

Are people getting thru in using the online pre-order procedure? I am seeing the following message on apple's site:

We are unable to connect at this time.
We're sorry. There was a problem connecting to the server. Please continue to the next page where you can save your information with an Apple ID, then make an appointment at your nearest Apple Retail Store, where a Specialist will be ready to help you. If you don't want to make an appointment, please try again later.

Relax. No need to panic if your contract ends first.

Sooo... if my AT&T contract expires July 11th and I can't get my hands on a 4 before that, will I have to renew without a new iPhone and lose upgrade eligibility. If so, wow I'm screwed.
No. You just continue until you get the new phone at full discount and begin a new 2 year contract then. :)

New error message:

Your request couldn’t be processed.
We’re sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later.

I managed to pre order mine launch date. And I received an email saying I would get it on the 24th.

However. I checked my bank statement tonight and I was also charged with another phone that was purchased at an AT&T store in Pennsylvania. I live in Brooklyn, and I never bought a phone in Penn. I also purchased my phone through Apple, not AT&T so I think this is something to do with AT&T's system.

I just checked my bank again a few minutes ago and my account has been credited for both phones. Even for the one I actually bought. Bought my order status still says it's shipping on the 24th.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

If I show up at opening time or an hour before opening time at an Apple Retail Store, is it reasonable to assume I will eventually get an iphone 4 (even if i have to wait a while in line).

I would say that you're pressing your luck. Its not known how many phones apple is setting aside in their stores for those who 'made a reservation' let alone if you did not. I would say to get there a lot earlier than that if you didnt reserve a phone at the store you're going to.

After reading this, I feel much better.

"We expect Apple to announce 2 million shipments or more after its opening weekend, including pre-orders."

600,000 pre-orders and 2 million shipments. I like my chances on walk in day now :D

Depends where you live, I guess.

To be safe I'd show up 5 hours earlier.

Walk In For White

No ****. And Apple has still not given any idea of when we can order white. WTF.
I bet if you are near the front of the queue Thursday, there will be a few White ones to buy. I'm camping out beginning Tuesday.

Plus my Radio Shack manager thinks he scored my White 32 Tuesday. I was first to order at his store. No crowd. 2 guys were behind me. He'll get a shipping manifest Tuesday so he'll let me know. I get the impression Radio Shack was promised a small amount of White models from Apple.

Anyone else pre-order from ATT on the 15th and receive this email? I haven't received any other confirmation email stating the date it will ship...

Thank you for your order. Your iPhone4 pre-order has been received and is being processed
in the order it was received
. You do not need to take any action. You will receive an email from

I'm Starting 45 Hours Before 7AM Thursday

Depends where you live, I guess. To be safe I'd show up 5 hours earlier.
I'm hard core. Starting my spot at 10 AM Tuesday morning in an attempt to get a WHITE 32. :D

I have my Bigger Words iPad app ready with "WHITE NOW" as my sign. I doubt 5 hours before 7AM will be early enough.

One would think there are two different emails.

Pre-order: gives price, charge, and ship info (299 for 32gb, etc)
Reserve: tells you you can pick one up, and presumably tells you 599(?) because the didn't verify you're upgrade/new service

I pre-ordered and don't have more than a sentence or two a saying Ill get an email when it ships. I don't have that whole "first come first served" bs down there.

I made a reservation, but my confirmation gives my correct (upgrade price) and billing information. I got through very early (before 5am) and it DID verify my upgradeability.

So letsss seeeee

How many Droid phones were pre-ordered before release....?
Anybody?

It could top a millionif they get another create full before launch date!

I am amazed by the fact that people think they will fool AT&T by buying two iPhone 4s on an upgrade eligible line and use one of them on a line that is not eligible for the upgrade. If that was so easy, a lot of people would do that and they would siphon money from AT&T by getting around contract requirements.

Remember that AT&T has to make money on you. It is not a charity. You signed a contract when you got a previous upgrade at a discounted price. The two years of the contract are what AT&T needs to recoup its discount on the phone price.

I agree with you. Sometime between now and the time they ship, AT&T will run a script across all orders to identify phone numbers that have more than one order and will cancel as appropriate. There have been reports for 2 days now of people getting emails from AT&T saying the order(s) had been canceled for this very reason. I'd bet my paycheck this will be done. AT$T stands to loose SSSOOO much $$$$ if they don't fix this. Could a few slip thru? Sure, but they will charge people full price once they figure it out.

Can someone tell me whether Apple is still accepting pre-orders on their website?

Thanks much.

Lucky you! Did you change your data plan to the one of the "new" plans?

I am still getting error messages... :'(
We were unable to complete set up online.
To finish creating your account, you’ll need to visit an Apple Retail Store where we can help you in person.

Kept my unlimited data plan and everything else remained the same. The order showed in the ATT status page the next morning, but shows the order date of 6/16, but the order was 'submitted' by me on the 15th.

Is there anybody that ordered through ATT and has a order date displaying the 15th in the status window? It seems as though all posts I've seen have order dates of the 16th.

I successfully pre-ordered my iPhone 4 through AT&Ts web site on Tuesday. 2 hours later I received and email from AT&T telling me my order was cancelled. I proceeded to go to the Apple web site and successfully reserved an iPhone for in-store pickup on the 24th.

Yesterday I received an email from AT&T telling me my “order has been received and is being processed in the order it was received”. Called AT&T this morning to see if this was real and they told me it was in fact a real in process order for an iPhone4. WTF?!

They told me it has an order date of June 15th, and that I can expect to receive the phone on the 24th.

#1: Should I trust what AT&T said and cancel my reserved phone at the Apple Store? They’ve done nothing to this point to inspire confidence!

#2: Why does AT&T think it’s OK to just go ahead and re-create my order without notifying me? Did they think I wouldn’t try to acquire an iphone some other way after they cancelled my initial order?!

When I asked if it would be possible to cancel this order, the women said she could “try”. WTF AT&T?!

How many other people out there now have TWO iphones on order or reserved? No wonder Apple is burning through their inventory!!!

See my post above. I ordered on the 15th, but it was at 4:30 pm central time and the original reciept says orders after 4 pm central time will be processed the following business day.
