Unfortunately, there's no better choice of band to prove Apple are uncool, middle-aged white men than U-bloody-2. Seriously, has no-one at Apple got anybody taste? Good on Jony for using Lemaitre, at least.

Perhaps the U2 fans may say the same of you, too. ;)

All we care about is the products themselves. Not the silly symbolism and historical stuff. Whatever.

I find that really sad. The symbolism is what makes an apple keynote great. Apple's distortion field is pretty damn cool when you watch a keynote, and then come back to the forums afterwards to see the change in people's attitudes. It's what makes people attracted to Apple's products and apple in general.

Remember the first keynote Jobs wasn't at when he was so sick? I didn't even know the guy and watching them on stage brought tears to my eyes. Which is funny because the man was very smart but he also was mostly a huge jackass. The way that he portrayed things was pretty damn incredible though and that's why people see him the way they do; why people say oh Steve Jobs never would have done that. He had a almost magical way of spinning things so that things you hated became showing people what they didn't know they wanted.

So while some of you may wait for just the products, I wait for the whole experience because it really is amazing the way it captivates you for awhile.

And before the fangirl comments hit - not all of you can deny they have a way of making you feel the same way. Especially Steve.

Yeah, of course. Just because U2 is awful and I don't want to see them associated with tomorrow's keynote? Good one.

You sure have a GIANT ego. You think your whinging is going to make a difference? :D

Seeya.

Ah in that case, Sony launched their Hi-Res portable audio players back in October last year:

I don't care, just wanted to point the facts out to you as you said Apple would 'steal their thunder', and all of the new Z3 models announced at IFA play Hi-Res audio too.

Correct, but except outside of Playstation no one pays any attention to Sony nowadays. How many people even know Sony has high-resolution audio? Not many, I'll wager. Plus, that thing is huge and a separate device people have to carry. Thus, it will be relegated to a niche product.

I'm with you on this. But, U2 performing is just not necessary. It's a total Samsung cheese fest.

It seems to go along with the whole symbolism thing they have going on this year. I have a few U2 songs that I can rock in the shower if need be, but they aren't on my iPhone ;)

The article mentions that they will be used to launch a product. A band might be necessary for that, and apple chose U2 over Nikij Minaj (sp?).

You've got a short time to go out and buy earplugs and tissues...

I just hope the products are amazing and that whatever U2's role is, it comes off legit and sincere, or is minimal at best.

Apple seems to be pretty good at pulling stuff off. And while I think the Galaxy Note Edge is pretty damn awesome looking with that 2k screen, their keynotes suck absolutely horrible moldy rocks.

If its a stage there is no where for more than a few hundred people to watch.

Tbh this doesn't really matter anymore as they're livestreaming the event.

I don't really care one way or another about this, so I give it a 'meh' and hope that it's just at the end as a footnote.

The "seniors" are the 40+ year olds with the brains - the ones who RUN Apple, went to college and learnt skills that involved PHYSICAL MATERIALS (Jony Ive) and the ones who are in metalwork shops and electronic component design labs, working PHYSICAL materials, whilst the outside world just consumes it all, dribbling over their iPads as they tap on Amazon.com, inbetween watching kitten videos...

The "seniors" were raised with a solid Christian upbringing, where right was right and wrong was wrong (still IS, in case you're lost) aspiring to be engineers, scientists and jet pilots, not "aspiring" to be a blogger or an HTML "programmer".

What a wasted world.

That isn't "clever", that's just cocky and supercillious.

Gay Tim Cook... or you mean Apple the leader of liberalism in the workplace.

Surely, you must be joking. Religion is what people cling to when they can't think for themselves. Now they've gone so far as to start denying science.

I hope they have a big enough stage for Bono's ego....

That big white box might not be enough...

In your opinion yes, that's like stating no one pays any attention to Samsung TV's because they don't look further than the Galaxy Smartphone. I suspect everyone who is seriously into their audio knows about it, plus those that read tech news websites seeing as they would have reported on it.
And a lot more people than you think have Sony tablets and smartphones.
