So Apple just spent $3 billion on a company that included Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre and is going musically with ... U2? Maybe one day I will understand why people like U2. Unlikely, but I can't believe they forgot about Dre.

Well, I was a teenager on the late 80's. So I do enjoy a lot that time and music.
I love U2 and while their last album wasn't that popular it was a solid one.I look forward for the new one.

Well that's fair and all, we all have different tastes. But if Macrumors is even remotely representative of the typical Apple consumer, this isn't a popular decision. Heck, I wouldn't even want my personal favorite band playing the event because it likely wouldn't be beneficial for the company. As a particular U2 bandwagoner said, Apple won't lose business with the decision, and that's probably true. But they certainly won't be gaining any business from it.

The event will go ahead as planned, With or withouuuuut yoouuu...

If you don't like it, Walk on

You'll say to Apple, "All I want is you"

Ideally, you imagine the event without U2, to be The sweetest thing

:p

U2? Seriously? I'll never buy Apple product again.

Yeah, right.

There are a lot of things I dislike, but I don't get my nickers in a twist about it. Especially when I don't really know what's going on.

In the end no one is going to care who played the keynote song at the address. U2 has a new album coming out, so it makes sense if they try to get some publicity by closing out the keynote. It's low risk for Apple. People will buy or not buy whatever they announce tomorrow on the merits of the products. If they release a spectacular product they can have Boy George sing the keynote song for all anyone cares.

Are you telling me that U2 has a song named 'One'?

Are you telling me you don't have Google?

You remind me of a friend I have - he texts me and asks him to Google things FOR HIM, and he's the iPhone fanatic, which, ya know, has a browser.

Boy...

Awkward, if you're attending tomorrow, and U2 get up and play for an hour - you'll be stuck in a moment you can't get out of ;)

OK, now I can name one of them. I guess my life is complete.

LOL. Growing up I really did not like U2. I was more of a Depeche Mode/New Order/Sisters of Mercy guy. I hated the Beatles and the Stones with a passion. Obviously as I got older that changed thankfully.

If I cared, in any way, what any of the U2 songs were named, I would make use of a search engine to find out.

That is both utterly hilarious and hugely offensive at the same time, and possibly rather ignorant. I bet MR member base is no more than 0.00001% of TOTAL Apple product owners.

Arn WISHES :D

I am not sure they will play tomorrow to be honest. I think their presence might be more associate with maybe a new subscription service, their past association with Iovine, The RED product or something else relate to music.
I doubt the event will be around their presence as some people are freaking out here. They are just a small part IMO. We'll see.

I don't actively dislike U2, I'm sure I've probably heard one or two of their songs at one time or another, but I was never impressed enough to find out what they were named.

It's either U2, or...

Army of Lovers:

They've never announced a watch before, so they can't do it the way they have always done.

They may have music-related launches to make, as well. The best way to do that is with music.

You're free to wait until the keynote is posted a few hours after the event, and then you can fast forward past the parts that make you feel lame.

Thanks for the advice.
