Fossils

Don't like U2? Don't comment and whine about it - there's just no need. What's gonna happen IS gonna happen, and complaining won't alter it.

Simple. :)

Unless the fossils that decided that U2 is still relevant/does anything other than lessen Apple's integrity decide to read said comments. Or would you have us, as Elvis Costello put it "swallow the Earth/Pouring into your mouth/As they bury us upright/saying ‘Everything’s alright'”?

"Supposed to be a surprise..." So let's post about it on all the leading news sites!

I will have the mute button ready.

Worst band ever. And Bono is the most obnoxious band member ever. Shoving his politics and BS down on everyone. Like he really matters. Let him use his unearned millions to fix the worlds problems but stay away from US taxpayers.

Go away BONO head , no one cares about you or your crap.

The only thing worse than old rockers are old gray haired pony tail guys riding motorcycles and thinking they are still cool.

I'm enjoying all this hate for an "irrelevant" band that will still sill millions and sell out stadiums.

That is both utterly hilarious and hugely offensive at the same time, and possibly rather ignorant. I bet MR member base is no more than 0.00001% of TOTAL Apple product owners.

Arn WISHES :D

Dude, you having a tough time with the English language? I think you should read my statement again. I stated that the Macrumors community may be representative of the Apple customer base as a whole. "Representative" of the customer base does not mean "Is the entire" customer base. I'm pretty aware that my wife enjoys Apple, yet does not go on this website.

Yeah. So would ABBA. Doesn't mean it's not a stupid idea for a company that intends to reach their target market.

Oh wise keeper of Apple target demographics, tell me who they wish to seek out. how is U2 not in their demographic? Oh, are they only looking for under 25s? Right, ok, that makes sense. No one wants to sell anything to anyone above 25. Totally valid point

They (Sony) just announced a Hi-Res player this year at IFA. Also, Neil Young will be releasing one that is called "Pono". But Apple has a chance to steal their thunder with an iTunes Hi-Res store and with iPhones that can play the files (currently iPhones and iPods can only play Hi-Res audio up to 16 bit 44khz and the maximum for Hi-Res is 24 bit 192khz)

//

I thought the same about this opportunity from Apple to release a Pono muisc competitor doing a High-res option on iTunes. U2 new album release in High-res would make sense at this point, or maybe it's just a Red product (beats?) and they are doing a live concert. We will know later :)

Cheers

No , no.

I dont know if it's been said, but there is know way that iPhone would come preloaded with U2 album, as it would already been leaked on internet by that chinese dude with iP6. Might come with voucher , though.

Justin Bieber can also sell millions and sell out stadiums. Popular does not always equal good.

"Relevance" also doesn't equal good. So are they irrelevant or bad? And I don't know if you've noticed - they regularly appear on top bands and albums of all times lists.

The inability for the "younger generation" to appreciate them surprises me.

Maybe this is for a relaunch/integration of Beats streaming with iTunes and their album will be available exclusively for a couple of weeks on it.

How dare people comment (in a comments section) and express themselves(on the Internet)!

Oh yeah, different people have different opinions. I missed the people posting that you should not like U2.

Not so simple. :D

If the acquisition of Beats isn't an indicator of Apple's target market, I don't know what is. At any rate, nice try Bono. Your music is still irrelevant. ZZ Top would honestly be more enticing.

I like U2, really, the Vertigo album which was released when I was 17 was nice f.e. BUT all I'm saying is this looks uncool to a lot of age ranges, seriously. I have nothing against U2, I'm not from the USA so I don't understand your internal culture about U2 (the hate and so on, to me they are only a music band) but I can only associate them with middle-aged white hair people, which screams boringg, like a lot of apple ads, and if you ask me I would have chosen something more polyvalent. They are not people you want to associate with a 2014 brand new product line

You could say middle aged people are fundamental for apple to success, but the fact is middle aged people use to like to be associated with newer generations culture when it's elegant and stylish because that make them feel somehow younger and hip, but this does not happen the other way.

The iPod was cool because then younger or at least trendy artists (U2 back then also) and the young urban culture adopted it, not because some 50+ years old people used it, let's put this clearly
