Snowdrops are out blooming and Crocus are starting to show some color.
It's currently 7 degrees C, that's about 44 degrees F and sunny right now here on Canada's west coast

2°C here… (with wind factored in it feels like —1°C)

Colder weather and some snow on the way…

Brrrrr.

Not that cold here, like -1-5˚C but it's been and is HEAVY snowfall and it keeps coming.
Enough cold for it to stay. Will be slushy next week 😵

Midwest and points southeast need to buckle up. Massive cold wave up next.

A portion of the polar vortex, the pool of subfreezing air that normally swirls over the Arctic Circle, dives into the Midwest this week, pushing temperatures off a cliff. The most intense cold will last from Tuesday night through Thursday across a broad region from North Dakota south into Missouri and as far east as Upstate New York. Temperatures are forecast to run as much as 50 degrees below average for late January.

Some forecasts Monday were calling for temperatures to drop to minus-29 in Chicago, two degrees below its lowest temperature on record, set on Jan. 20, 1985. Even if the record is not broken, the National Weather Service in Chicago is calling this week’s forecast “life-threatening extreme cold” that “can lead to rapid onset of frostbite and hypothermia.”

I’m working from home today. Tomorrow should be warmer and by Friday things should be back to normal.

[doublepost=1548855774][/doublepost]What’s crazy is Saturday’s forecast is above freezing. That’s unusual.

It actually got down to the low 30's last night/this morning. But when I look at some of the rest of the country, I'm not complaining.

Stay warm, everybody!

We got to 4ºF here and it's sunny, blinding actually on 9" new snow. Tonight and tomorrow night -15 territory, then a forecast heatwave low of 1 degree on Friday night... and yeah the weirdness of 39 degrees by Sunday. No worries about flooding this time, though: just normal freezing cold next week, so let the midweek launch of Chinese New Year festivities skate on. 😀

A brisk and chilly 25 degrees here in the DC area right now...... Sun peeks in-and-out from time to time and some of yesterday's snow has already melted.

Some snow falling in Jersey now. I guess that is the squall they are talking about but looks like regular snow blowing in the wind to me.

I am always astonished by the severe cold weather people living in the northern Americas endure.
It is bloody frightening.

We here in the UK complain when things dip under 0°C for a day or so… the country grinds to a halt when snow falls heavier than a sprinkling or dusting.

Ayway, some snow expected later today… but light. Just enough to cause transport issues.

Come on spring! Get your skates on.
