Just spoke to o2, on 2302.

If you wish to get a free 8GB iPhone or a £59 16GB iphone you'll need to change to the £45 pm package for 9 months, you can do this instore, & you will then be rolled into a new 18 month contract.

Your old iphone is yours to do what you want with.

This is exactly the route I will choose :) Thanks for posting.

Surely opening up the iPhone to other carriers would allow Apple to generate more ££££'s

I'd bet that as soon as O2's exclusivity deal ends, there will be unlocked iPhones on sale in Apple stores and locked, cheaper ones on sale in carrier stores just like there are currently for Nokias etc. Once they've achieved market penetration with the help of O2 (and thus no longer need them) I'd be very surprised if they don't drop them.

the £30 tarrif is a joke, 75 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!
why not 200 and 200 texts like the original £35 tarrif?

Because it's £5 less?

Pay As You Go - Excellent!!! :D

I'm willing to pay up to £350 (but hopefully I won't have to) for a 16GB iPhone 3G, as well as the £7.50 monthly Data Bolt-On.

I'll be queueing on the 11th of July for sure!

All iPhones ran out of stock some time ago:D

Sorry - I was a bit unclear with that one.

Was trying to illustrate the point that O2 subsidised the 8gb and not the 16gb in the past. Not sure why they didn't give a price cut on both and could have done something funny for upgrades to 16gb this time. Luckily, Bentoms has clarified this now after speaking to O2.

Dear Matthew,

As a current o2 customer I am hoping you can answer my questions.

When will the 3g iPhone be available on pay as you go? Will it be from
launch on 11th July?

What will the price of the pay as you go iPhone be?

Will I be able to purchase the 3g iPhone online?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

Martin Hamer

Thanks, and to Sanada for the replies! You may want to get rid of your email though from your original message!

Existing O2 customers get discounts, even Pay & Go ones on the Pay & Go iPhone. I will be using that :D

There are no discounts for existing customers just for being existing customers. It seems all you are entitled to as an existing iPhone customer is the ability to replace your old contract with a new one, with all the benefits which are given to new customers.

"Apparently" O2 staff will be told next week what the PAYG price will be for the new iphone, one member of staff even hinted that the price will be under £200....

Where did that info come from? That's your first post, so we need some evidence!

The 8GB iPod touch is £199, so surely a PAYG iPhone 3G can't be less than that, unless the touch price comes down?

Ok, my previous post didn't go through so I'll try it again.

I have few questions regarding O2 and iPhone and I was hoping you could help me guys.

1) I often text abroad but am charged extra (20p or so) on my £35 Orange contract. Can I get something from O2 so I don't pay extra for sms abroad? I know a lot of countries in europe charge the same no matter where the sms goes. Anything like that in UK (O2)

2) I have N95 with over a 1000 texts which I would like to preserve or preferably transfer either to my computer or on the iPhone. Is there a way to do that? Can I actually save them somewhere and read them later without the phone?

3) Can iPhone receive MMS?

Thats enough for now. I might come back again with more questions. :)
Any feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks
