I’m waiting for John Lewis to start selling it on the 20th rather than preordering. You don’t get the strap choice Apple offer but you get an extra years guarantee which I think is a worthy trade off.

So, those with cellular watches already ....

what are you doing with your plan? I want to sell mine this weekend before values plummet too much.. not sure whether to just cancel it and retake it out for ease

Interesting that the stainless steel options are still available for store pick up on the 20th. Will. Will make a judgement call on the Friday if the titanium is worth it in person

WRT the John Lewis additional year, if you are really going to use your watch as it was supposed with the potential to really break it then the AppleCare 2 incidents are definitely a differentiator, particularly as you are dealing with Apple for all of the claim. Knowing this after cracking the layers of the screen on my S3 after about a month of having it :p

I’ve dealt with JL before on a couple of occasions and within the 2 years they are decent to deal with. The watch is the same price as at Apple but with 2 years warranty instead of 1. I can’t see the need for AC as if I break the watch I’m insured anyway via home contents. Last time I looked AC was around a 100 quid!! Ouch.

I decided way too late... still unsure if I bc should upgrade from S4....

delivery date October 4th, but maybe I’ll try John Lewis next week.

I saw my Space Black SS Watch with black sport band pre-order (due 20 Sept) had changed to ‘preparing for dispatch’ before the store went down ahead of iPhone 11 pre-orders. I had a SS series 0 and an then a SS series 3 and hadn’t planned to upgrade this year but the always-on display tipped the balance.

I wonder if we will be able to track the orders from China or whether they will stay at ‘preparing for dispatch’ until next Thursday...

Effectively you get 2 years at apple anyway though. If you walk in with a faulty after 23 months, literally just mention 'consumer law' (no arguing) and they will deal with it in the same way. I've done this before with iPhones so I wouldn't go with John Lewis for that reason.

Also you've shown a nike apple watch - not available until the 4th anywhere unless John Lewis are selling it from the 20th? If so I will be tempted!

Apple are obliged to give you 2 years under EU consumer law and I’ve not had issues getting replacements after 1 year in the past but in the current climate with Brexit I don’t want to gamble on relying on EU legislation for the next 2 years. John Lewis are a decent trusted retailer and the 2 years is their policy so I’m happy with that.

For me the watch will be delivered by post so it makes no difference whether it comes from Apple or JL in that respect. I’d just rather purchase knowing their are no potential troubles and I have a firm guarantee. The Nike edition is likely going to be at JL on the same day as Apple I would imagine so no early surprises. :)

Well Apple store is down so can’t check if mines changed to preparing for dispatch. Then again I’m collecting it from the store so might be different. Arghh! Can’t next Friday come quick enough.

It should be fine with Brexit as EU Law was copied into UK a while back, but also if you purchase something under an existing law then you would more than covered.

For consumer law, I can't see it being an issue within the next 2 years to be honest.

Oh completely agree - John Lewis are absolutely awesome, so I accept that. I just don't think Brexit will come into it. If on the 31st we do leave, the entirity of EU law is enshrined in a new UK law passed a while ago. The UK then go seperate, but the chances of the UK gov removing consumer law is basically nil.

Thanks for clarifying your thoughts on nike anyway - I would go to whoever got the watches first! haha.

I agree, I think there will be higher priorities to be looked at first.
