It arrived today at 10:35am.

Mine was loaded and scanned onto a UPS @ 4:49AM @ Tamworth Depot. "Out For Delivery"

Mine left the Stoke depot this morning, out for delivery. I'm sitting at work staring out of the window waiting for the big brown van to arrive.

am typing this from said new machine!

**** mine had all the same details as yours and has not arrived yet today

Thanks, the only expected delivery date was 'January' and the spec is.

I can concur with others. Just done the unboxing. What a sight! But, despite all my protestations when I touched the machine it was very cold so succumped to the old wife's tale of letting it warm up to room temperature first before I boot it for the first time. It was hard stopping myself.

One minor annoyance, the cables come from the LHS for me, and I never realised given how big this machine is that with all the ports being on the RHS, it doesn't look as tidy so I may have to go to Maplin on the way home to get longer cables!

I wasn't really given an expected date, just dispatched by Jan!

I looked one day and it had changed to shipped, and 24 hrs later i could track it. At this point it said to be expected by the end of the 17th.

i don't know whether reading this thread is doing me any favours. There I was expecting to wait 'til Feb 6-13th and telling myself to forget about it and now Im checking Apples Order status page every few hours

Am replacing old 2009 20" base model with 27" i7 3.4 fusion.

i am getting stupidly excited and really hope its worth the £2000 (+RAM)
and the torturous wait

I'm in the UK. I had my iMac order go to shipped yesterday.

I noticed that you were able to see the various countries your iMac has been and wondered how you were able to do this?

When I click on the Track Shipment button in the My Orders section on the Apple website, I have the following shown:

Please Note: Your items dispatched from different locations and will be merged together before delivery. Once merged, your Order Status will be updated with carrier and tracking information (at latest 48 business hours before your estimated delivery date).

I have the same text, info or problem? But maybe it is this “at latest 48 business hours before your estimated delivery date“ what counts?
Means 20 or 21 January you will got all the info?

Correct?

If I'm reading this correctly it looks like my 12th Dec order cleared customs at LHR a few minutes ago - is the latest date (19 Jan) the date the machine begins it's journey from Apple at Leicester? I don't suppose, by any chance, it suggest the date it gets down here to me in Devon does it?

it's worth every penny (even in isolation, never mind compared to other AIOs and/or desktop setups with similar quality screen). And your wait may not be as long as you had previously thought. Things are moving along now

The machine will go nowhere near Apple's centre in Leicester. For your machine, Leicester is essentially where is was manufactured. It'll probably get to a depo near where you live and then out in a van to deliver to you tomorrow weather permitting. Good luck

confuzzled, thanks. Its the most expensive computer I've ever bought, and boy am I getting stick from husband and children over it

I was told feb 6th-13th, but seeing others delivered when they were ordered on the 2nd gives me hope for a much quicker delivery.

Wahey!... that's nice to hear... apart from the meeting I've got to attend during the day... those will be a few hours of missed delivery anguish!

I have been using macs since 1996, hiatus between 2000-2004 but bought my first generation Mac Mini in 2004 (I think). It run as well as the day I bought it for 5 years, when I bought a MacBook Pro it was handed down to my father in law and to this day still runs fine for him, albeit on OS X 10.4. When I had to get him a new printer which required OS X 10.4, Apple sent me 10.4 gratis as it wasn't selling it any more. Like I said, never crashes, never slowed down (no such thing as malware) and looks good 8 years on. You will (hopefully) get many more years hassle free computing from this machine so on 5 year view, this is not going to be expensive. Promise you

PS. There are plenty of other reasons to justify a purchase and I am sure our Windows friends will say Windows 7 is a good platform these days (which I agree with) but I have too much of my life already intertwined in mac world to change now. Can I be bothered with setting everything up again? Can't be bothered. Time is money and I'd rather spend any spare time I have with my kids rather than mess around with setting up a Windows based system. Particularly when a large display of the iMac quality will cost me the best part of £700-800 anyway and the HP or Dell box a good £500-600 for what I want. For an extra £300, I have what I want. So that's my justification anyway.

i agree.. the 2009 iMac i am using today is working great except from my some weird display issue ( very feint wide vertical stripes, but you cant see them clearly unless on a greyish background) its just slow, and i maxxed out the RAM years ago.

The cost per year for that machine was tiny. previous windows things had only lasted 2 years tops.
My son just got a win 8 machine ( he is only 8) and it is the biggest pile of kak I've ever seen.

Im just excited. Cant help it. impatient.
I cant believe i didn't order it earlier. as I'm usually that mad woman standing outside all night to buy new phones and iPads.

There she is, waiting to get to room temperature before I begin indoctrination!

I've ordered an iMac with 16Gb of RAM (before I learned that Apple RAM is very expensive)... anyway, given that non-Apple RAM is supposed to be a lot cheaper I'm thinking I can now afford the additional 16Gb to bring the machine up to 32Gb.

Advice please... where is the best place to buy 16Gb RAM - does anyone know exactly what I should be buying so I've got it here ready for insertion (machine due to arrive 22nd Jan!).

All advice gratefully received!

As per earlier post, crucial is a popular place to get it from.

You can save 7% via quidco as well :)

Mine came in on the same flight as yours :) (Ordered 13th Dec)

Under "time line" is has "Estimated Time of Delivery" as tomorrow although apple ETA is 22nd. Who knows... no doubt it will get stuck in snow.

Using windows 8 was one of the things that sent me down the route of buying my first iMac :)

I wasn't daring to hope that the timeline ETA was delivery to me! Now seriously raised hopes! We don't get snow down here so...

Interestingly, received an email from Apple today with the invoice details. must mean something, not sure what!

Crucial RAM ordered and paid a tad extra for next day delivery - don't want that to come a day after the machine itself... that would be one dilemma too many!

My first foray into macworld... hopefully the long-term relationship will be better than this ordering/delivery one!! Gotta start learning to speak Mac... that'll be interesting... :apple:

Thank you :)

I am in London, UK. Is there a possibility of having the iMac delivered tomorrow? As Apple websites estimates the delivery date tomorrow but UPS on Monday, 21st Jan.

I've tried to see any paterns in previous posts but could not find anything.

Mine is the same as yours :)

On the Apple website says 18th, UPS says 21st
