Will be interesting to hear what they say. Pretty much all my orders with Apple in the past have resulted in Apple updating their tracking info way later than if I manually tracked it. I don't think they understand some customers are aware of their ordering system (like using expo site).

Well they called back and I got off the phone a lil while ago. Again, credit to the Apple employee. Very helpful and sympathetic. He explained that this has been escalated and they expect a response within a few hours.

He said he'd give me a call tomorrow morning and give me the lowdown. He gave me his assurance that they'd do everything they can to make sure it gets to me as soon as possible.

Has anybody in the uk received a BTO from the education store yet? I'm still waiting on tracking info even though the apple tracking said it was with the courier this morning...

Good to hear they are on the case. Whenever there's an issue, they do try to respond which is to their credit, and what we expect really. Hopefully they can shed some light but if the couriers are already selected, it's tough to see how they could speed things up.

Anyway, just emailed Tim Cook to air my displeasure:

Hi Tim,

Hate to groan but the MBA I ordered after WWDC to replace my Rev A MBA is taking an age to reach me. 13 days (potentially more) seems excessive for a premium product from a top company like Apple. I'm in Manchester, England and can see that it took 6 days for the CTO MBA to get from China to London and clear customs, which is fine - I need CTO for the 8GB RAM. However, it's now static and is estimated to take over a week to get from London to Manchester. Nothing in the UK takes that long to arrive, not even a Dell back-breaker using second class postage. I still have no tracking code or end courier, just a blank space and a 'wait for an email'.

Disappointed as I've never had to wait this long for an Apple order (CTO, single or multiple items) in the past, and the US orders seem to have bee landing with people for days now. That said, keep up the good work - looking forward to Mountain Lion, iOS 6 and the TV ;)

*Groans* so it's past 5pm now and nothing's changed. This is beyond ridiculous. They promised we'd get tracking info 48 hours before the delivery date.

THEY LIED!!! :(

OK, my order has been updated to "Ready for Delivery" on the Expeditors website. Some update in the Events breakdown too:

Code:
20-Jun-2012 15:57:00 GMT Comm Docs Received LONDON, ENGLAND (LHR)
20-Jun-2012 15:50:00 GMT Import Customs Release LONDON, ENGLAND (LHR) 120-088689K
20-Jun-2012 15:40:00 GMT Decl. Lodged w Customs LONDON, ENGLAND (LHR) 120-088689K

Looks like it was with Customs for all of 10 minutes!

Still no update from Apple though.

That means it will be delivered to Apple, not to you. You still have another 3-5 days to wait :(

Glad to hear that yours has come.
Did you just have the MBA in your order or were there other items? Curious to see how much time merging items takes.

BTO Air 8gb 13" and T'bolt to GigE adapter (was put in the box in China by the look of it)..

Anyways opened it up now, bit disappointed as it doesn't seem like much of an upgrade of my 2007 MB :D (Only Joking)

What I am pleased with is the screen, its great .. was initially going to go for the retina, decided I could do better with the air + the new mini when its launched... The retina is just too much £ for 1 machine for my liking.

Very happy for you - runs away to cry in a corner.

When did you place your order?

I seriously am thinking that tracking info or the lack of it will not change the high possibility that I believe it will come tomorrow. That's just my view.

Got mine today. It's... sexy.
When did you order, and what were the details of your order (BTO, combined order, etc).
Just curious as to what is holding up the process for some of us.
Is t the education voucher?

Hope you enjoy your machine.:)

How does Apple's warranty work as far as the various EU countries go? Say, if I buy a MBA online from the Apple Store in Spain, will it only be serviceable in Spain? Or could it be serviceable in Portugal?

Cheers

AFAIK it's worldwide on portables. I've had UK-bought MBAs and MBPs repaired/serviced in Beijing without problem.
