Really angry that there are no pre-orders available. Looking to get a 32GB iPad Air in space grey. Guess I'm going to have to order online at midnight from either Apple or John Lewis as I will be too busy in the day to pick it up. Do you guys know if they will be selling the iPads from midnight or not?

I doubt apple would allow anyone to sell iPads before they do. Their stores will open at 8am so I imagine they'd make other retailers follow in a similar manner.

I don't think anyone has given further details yet, I'm not on facebook but if you are you could ask John Lewis there? Ordinarily I might not have minded but the wife is flying to America on the Monday so really need the iPad by latest Sunday so I can set it up for her, stick some movies on and she can take it.

Am guessing stock is very limited but the cynical side of me believes Apple love people queuing up to make it out like it is more demand than it actually is.

Yeah but the queues for iphone in general would be alot higher than ipads. Iphones are alot more popular. Last year when the ipad mini launched, apoarently most stores didnt fully sell out on day one.

I would not put money on you being able to pick one up on launch day if you turned up an hour before.

For the iPhone 4 launch I turned up 4 hours beforehand and there was very limited stock and the capacity I wanted had sold out before I got to the front of the queue and people not far behind me missed out altogether.

You may be lucky, especially if you are not really bothered which version you get. But if you want a specific colour, version and capacity the chances reduce.

From what I have read the queues have gotten bigger over the years. Personally I did not particularly enjoy the experience of hanging around for hours so have no intention of doing it again.

Whatever you decide to do... Good luck

I live in hull and we don't have an apple store , we however have a krcs store which I'm hoping will have enough in for the weekend of release...

I'm planning to purchase from here also, but the 24-hour Tesco might be an option? Might try ringing both and see if I can get an answer for when they will be available for pickup

I did walk into an Apple store in the US on launch day of the mini and they did not have all sizes, colours and versions available... I was very lucky they they had the version I wanted for my daughter.

So just depends, you can be lucky but i would not bank on it.

The last couple of years on launch day in Livingston, there was a queue in Currys trying to get one as they had very limited stock but I walked into Argos round the corner and picked up a couple with no queue. i went back and told some of the folk in Currys and there was a mass exodus! :)
Worth keeping an eye on Argos on launch day.

Good tip I'm from livingston myself, where they the same price?

I have a Tesco Extra near me that sells the current gen iPad and iPad mini, I wonder if they will have the new models in stock on launch day. Anyone happen to have experience buying from Tesco in the past?

I bought my iPad Mini from them last year. I had ordered my wife an iPad Mini from the online Apple Store. When it arrived I couldn't prise it from her hands. I went to tesco for some groceries later and wandered up to an employee near the Apple stand and asked if they had any iPad Mini's in stock. Her went to look and came back with their last one which was exactly the spec I wanted. I've had no issues with it and of course got Clubcard points on the purchase.

I had issues with Argos when I returned an iPad 3 for having a very yellow display. At first they wouldn't accept the return. I had to get a guy in the apple store to write them a note saying its faulty before they reluctantly gave a refund!

Just swap it out at an Apple store - I did that with two iPad 2s until I got one with a good screen. If you were returning because you were not happy with the iPad 3 then easier to just buy at an Apple store in the first place as they will accept returns without issue.

Hi guys,

Anyone know what time we will be able to place orders online? Will it be 12am midnight UK? or 8am UK?
I had the same question so I went and found the place in the absolutely huge UK iPhone 5s thread just before midnight on launch day to see how that one worked. it's quite a funny thread, full of posts in the 5 minutes before midnight saying things like "nothing yet" and then after midnight a load of " yeah, it's up" and "Just ordered mine" type of posts. So, assuming that Apple do the same as they did with the non-preorderable iphone 5s release last month, then midnight or a minute afterwards is the time when online purchasing on the Apple UK store will go live.

I hope you're right! Any chance of a link to that thread?

Apple didn't have stock at the time I bought it, and wouldn't replace it.

I got a refund at from Argos then purchased it from Apple.

All i remember last time is that i couldnt take the day off work to go to the apple store at Regent St to get my LTE mini, so i ordered on the apple site, only to find that even though i ordered at midnight, it didnt SHIP until the release day so i had to wait a week for it to get over from china.

What was even more annoying is that i found out after i got home, that people who had gone to the regent st apple store had to queue for an hour or two, but they still had models left on the day! I went back the next day and they had sold out.

doh.

but then again it was a good lesson for me in patience, i dont NEED to have an ipad immediately.

I think this year is a bit different as last year i had already sold my ipad 3, so i had no ipad, whereas this year i still havent sold my current mini and i'll keep that until the last minute

Agreed with people that there is no point busting a gut to try and get one on release day as you'll only be wasting more time in regards to queuing up and finding a store to have one.

My local Tesco is an Extra store and I have 2 more within 15 mile radius so I'm gonna give them a try on release date if my local one (1 mile away) doesn't have one.

I managed to get a iPhone 5s 13 days after the launch and I casually walked into the Apple store around lunch time and I was out with my new phone in about 20 minutes.

No queues, no drama's, no hassles :)

Here's the link to page 33 when it starts to get exciting.

Page 33 actually ends on a real cliffhanger so you'll need to move on to page 34 to see what happens. I won't spoil the surprise for you :D

I can't see why Apple wouldn't use the same procedure for the iPad launches on 1st Nov but there's no guarantees of course.

Apple also offer a 2 year warranty in the UK (under EU law) -

http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

I don't have an Apple store near me and I don't particularly want to wait to get my iPad delivered.

Just a head up. Anyone that wants to buy an iPad now (not the new ones) Tesco have two codes for money off tablets:

TDX-CP4D - £20 off tablets over £200 - valid until 27/11/2013
TDX-KW3Q - £30 off tablets over £300 - valid until 27/11/2013

To add to that they already have at least £20 saving on the prices already though the majority have about £40 saving.

16GB Wi-Fi Model iPad 4 can be had for £329 in combination of the code above and the reduction to £359 already.
