What do you reckon the chances are of getting a 128gb space grey LTE Air at the Manc Apple store at about 1230-1300? Can't get there prior to that. The model I'm after works in my favour, but still, times getting on at that point.

The Arndale? When I was in town on the 5 launch day, the queues were already ridiculous by 10am, and that one actually had preorders available. So I wouldn't pin all your hopes on it :( can't speak for the Trafford Centre though, except for the fact that it is still half term for many schools, so the whole place will be heaving anyway, regardless of it being launch day.

Yeah probably. I might just do an order and collect from store next day with a 3rd party, like I did with my 5S.

Interesting that John Lewis aren't listing any LTE versions of the air.

I never noticed that, interesting. I wonder why that is?
Im hoping my local Tesco's has them in stock. Was told at my local PC World that they weren't getting any in this week and it would be next week before they had any. Contradicts the earlier pdf.

Are Currys/PC World opening at 8am on Friday? My local store's opening hours are from 10am. I was planning to buy online but the temptation of having it on launch is too much to pass up. Can anyone share their experience buying from Currys/PC World on launch day? Are there queues?

I bought my iPad 3 from Tesco at the midnight launch, so I'm hoping I'll be able to do the same this time round. Less than 10 people showed up, I was in and out in no time. Beats having to queue for hours on a Friday morning!

Do you think they'll be able to sell them from midnight? Suppose if Apple allow for ordering online from then there's no reason for them not to be able to sell from midnight. Have a 24-hour Tesco in town so that might have to be my port of call on friday!

hope so, they've done it before.

I think it depends on the store. I popped into one first thing a couple of years ago and could reserve one and got a ticket but had to go back about 3pm when they physically got them in stock.

When the iPad 2 came out, it was a 5pm release. I was planning to go down Comet to get one. But I would pass PC World on my way there so I went to PC World instead. I got there and joined the queue at about 4:30pm and they closed the queue behind me after they gave everyone a ticket. It was almost 5:30pm when I left the store. Some of my mates went down to Comet but there wasn't much stock so they couldn't get one.

I'll probably do a reserve and collect or get it delivered this time.

I think that most of the Apple stores will sell out of the common variants : 16 and 32gb in both colours (iPad Air) but their online store will have ample stock and will aim to deliver the units by 8th Novemember.

John Lewis and Currys are good options but the only issue is that if the product has a little mark or blemish it'll be difficult to return or exchange where as with apple they will exchange or refund no matter what the issue is as long as your within the 14 day period.

I'm looking to order at 12am on 1st or 8am If they don't start in the night.

"To avoid lengthy queues, some customers can also order online before 9.30am on the day of launch,
and guarantee a Same Day Delivery – their product arriving between 6:30pm – 10pm*. Alternatively
they can use Currys & PC World's Order and Collect service - ordering online to collect in-store the
following day."

Yup, heard that story from them before. They usually get launch day stock but it's a safer bet going to a larger store if you want to ensure the best chance of snagging one.
Tesco have a page up where you can get stock alerts...

Gonna try Tesco at midnight and if no joy head to Curry's and Argos Superstores at 8am

Quick question: If I were to buy an iPad from say Tesco, if there's any blemishes on the case, would it be possible to have it swapped out at an Apple shop. Or do I have to deal with Tesco etc.'s customer service?

If you called Apple on day one then I'm sure they would be fine to deal with but you may want to open it @ Tesco and look it over in their presence for peace of mind. they can't have any objections to that and if the item is clearly marked straight out of the box then you have a reason for exchange of refund.

That made me smile. I've had similar experiences in the past. Typically, Currys & Comet didn't find out until the morning of release how much stock they would receive in store. I'm sure other stores will be the same. I believe they request stock from Apple but don't find out until last, minute when it ships how much they will actually get. Seems to be the Apple way...

Really can't decide on which iPad to get, Air/Mini any tips would be good. Read all the things about portability of the Mini over the Air and so on but can't decide, same specs apart from the bigger screen and with an iPhone 5ish weight difference between the two...
I'm coming from a 3rd gen and found that a bit weighty for long use and really like the idea of getting a mini but really can't decide now.

Also back to the main topic, with the Tescos offer of £30 off and the possibility of getting it on friday i'm leaning towards that now. I just really wanted to know if my main local Tescos will have it in or not, any way to find out before friday as my original thought was to get it on educational discount from Apple online.

I think the Tesco offer is online only

I'm kind of in the same boat. I went from an iPad 4 to the mini purely as a stop gap until the new iPads were announced - I knew selling the 4 a while back would get me the best price and i snapped up a 3 week old mini for £180. Truth is, I have grown very accustomed to the mini and like being able to slip it into the laptop bag on the way to work etc. I do prefer the full sized screen through since I still mainly use the iPad at home and don't take it out the house apart from work so don't need the portability as much. But of course, if both have similar specs, the cheaper price and extra portability may still be the winner. My guess is Tesco will get some stock on Friday going on past experience but may sell out very quickly so best bet is to get online early and reserve it for store collect the following day. The good news for the Air though is stock levels are expected to be good.

Yup, but you have use the ecoupon and have it delivered to store for next day collection. Worth waiting a day for the discount.

I thought about ordering from Tesco with the voucher but then I thought that an extra year warranty from John Lewis is worth that extra £30. I don't have an Apple store near me, so can't have their EU 2 year warranty thing (if that makes sense?)
