Also not clear if they will take the money up front!

I'm steering clear of GAME tbh.

Sounds like the supply will be minimal for the Retina Mini, hope I get mine in time for my birthday (3rd Dec)!

just called them and did online chat, can't pre order to store and only for delivery. and they don't even know if they will deliver on release date or not. :roll eyes:

ok they just called back and said that thee not sure if the stores will receive them on launch date but you will get them if you pre order them now for launch day delivery.... not sure now tbh

I've zero faith in GAME based on past experiences with simple vid-yuh game preorders, never mind a supply limited device like a new iPad.

I'm after a 128gb LTE retina Mini. As I've already got a current 64gb LTE Mini, I've decided to adopt the attitude that it comes when it comes. Last year it was more of a struggle waiting as I had a 3rd gen wifi, which I'd all but given up taking outside the house due to it being wifi only (a mistake for me) - I found tethering an utter ballache not worth bothering with, it was my first and last wifi only iPad, having had 3G's previously.

Besides, I've got the small matter of two shiny new consoles at the end of the month \o/

I'm guessing you'd have better luck with larger storage devices not selling out...

usually smaller storage iPad's 16-32gb sans cellular are more popular.

Hope so. I'll be happy if I get one by mid-late December as I'm going away for a bit then.

If it is being made available on Apple’s Online Store at 12:01 am PDT won't that make it 7:01 am GMT?

I don't think it works that way. With the launch of the iPhone 5S it was midnight in each region. In fact for the 5S people in Australia got to order several hours before the UK or US. It will likely be the same way for the iPads. We will get to order five hours before the US East Coast and eight hours before the US west coast. Australia will get to order before us again.

people saying they wouldn't use GAME... why?

Order one and get back to us when you receive it... ;)
Just saying they won't be at the top of the list for launch day stock and if they do get some, I doubt it will be in large quantities. Currys/PC World is probably the best bet outside of Apple retail and Argos seem to do okay as well.

I bought an iPad 3 From PC World/Currys on launch day. They gave me a £5 gift voucher to use in store too. Got money off a smart cover with it.

I had the same question so I went and found the place in the absolutely huge UK iPhone 5s thread just before midnight on launch day to see how that one worked. it's quite a funny thread, full of posts in the 5 minutes before midnight saying things like "nothing yet" and then after midnight a load of " yeah, it's up" and "Just ordered mine" type of posts. So, assuming that Apple do the same as they did with the non-preorderable iphone 5s release last month, then midnight or a minute afterwards is the time when online purchasing on the Apple UK store will go live.

a good few days before the iPhone5S went on sale, Apple had sent email around which confirmed the time they would be available to buy.. i'm hoping to see a similar email in the next day or so.

I have more faith in getting hold on an air slightly more easily than my 5S!

think the rush will be for the retina mini, and I already seem claims of stock shortages similar to the 5S launch.

the 5S email that went out from apple prior to launch clearly said 12.01BST.

but then the 5 went on sale at at 8am last year and i'm pretty sure I pre-ordered my iPad 2 at midnight.

realistically, no one knows what apple will do until they themselves tell us.

I visited a local GAME store today to check out their pre-owned iPad Minis. One was priced at £279 and the other for £249. I asked the staff if this was correct as I can buy a new one for £249 and he said yes. ...And that's why they're struggling on the high street.

I have been without my iPad for too long.

I am thinking of heading up to the Bullring store on release day it will be the first (and most likely only) time I queue for an apple product. Does anyone have a rough idea of what is a decent time to get there?

Do the apple store employees give out tickets with the model and memory you require before store opening?

I apologise for all the questions but what is the etiquette for popping out to grab a coffee or some warm food?

Thanks

"To avoid lengthy queues, some customers can also order online before 9.30am on the day of launch,
and guarantee a Same Day Delivery – their product arriving between 6:30pm – 10pm*. Alternatively
they can use Currys & PC World's Order and Collect service - ordering online to collect in-store the
following day."

Based on what Currys/PC World are saying as well as what is being reported in the thread linked below it seems like iPad Airs may be fairly readily available at launch.

I bought my iPad 3 from Tesco at the midnight launch, so I'm hoping I'll be able to do the same this time round. Less than 10 people showed up, I was in and out in no time. Beats having to queue for hours on a Friday morning!

OK guess that means I'm staying up then. Need to order online to get my Educational discount.

That might not necessarily be the case - I know the Store near my current edu employer offers the same discounts in person as online. (Which seem fairly slender for iPads, but rather heftier on, say, an rMBP) I wonder if the discounts vary with the establishment?
