I think the 2020 Amazon debacle is the new 2017 (?) Very-gate.

Carphone are disappearing up their own tailpipe & their high-street stores won't be reopening at all even after COVID.

Can anyone remind me what the general situation *usually* is with in-store stock from Friday onwards please?

I still wasn't sure last Friday and - old fashioned as it may seem now - I don't like ordering things that I'm not sure about. Every year I read this this thread biting my lip as people post about ordering stuff they know they'll not keep, does my nut in ...

My delayed preorder is therefore due on 10th November, so if I can get one for Apple Store pickup I'll likely have time to cancel before it goes PFS. Do I just add my preferred phone variant to Basket & just keep clicking refresh until one shows in-store? Friday? Saturday? Definitely not going to stand in a plague-queue on spec for the sake of 3-weeks.

Will also be keeping an eye on John Lewis, suspect that's the best bet now.

From what I remember over the past few years, stock drips into the stores fairly regularly after the first week or so of launch. Just check the site every morning (8am? Might be wrong) and then reserve if they are there. That's how I did it for my iPhone XS, presume it hasn't changed since then.

I have a pretty good memory of being up at midnight to reserve a 6 Plus after missing out on a launch day pre-order, ended up getting it about 1.5 weeks later when stock finally appeared. Don't think the midnight refresh is a thing now though!

I was pre-approved for a 256GB iPhone 12 last week, but when I put my order in I changed it to a 128GB. I'm guessing my loan from Barclays will be amended once shipped by Apple?

I believe you could only change the finish. The pre-approval info made multiple statements that if you wanted a different model or size you needed to do a new application.

There are various options but my advice would be to go to a large John Lewis store in time for opening on Friday morning and buy one there.

Got an EE perks code through work, managed to get my 200gb 5G smart sim contract with Apple Music included reduced down to the £20 a month.

Today is a good day.

I got the same today. I was previously on a £27 50GB and was also paying £10 for Apple Music. This is a very good deal!
