Argos: mine apparently hasn't been picked yet, which is when they generate the Yodel tracking no.s - so sounds very promising if you have yours already.

she said I should try later this evening! 😱

lots of work to do today so I'm just going to forget about it (🤣)

I’m sure you will get yours! Let me know when you get any updates!

Did your status change or did you get any dispatch notice?

I ordered with Argos and it still just says sit tight, processing for Friday delivery.

This morning I just checked my order on the Argos website and it had updated. Didn’t receive any emails about it though. Then I jumped onto live chat and asked for the trackingdwtails which they have provided me.

Current status on Yodel says ‘Your parcel will be with us soon’ so I guess Argos have printed the label and all sorts but nothing picked up by Yodel yet

Spoke to Argos again,

They confirmed that I had already arranged delivery for tomorrow. They said the item is currently being picked for dispatch but I won't get a tracking number as they don't do those for Yodel.

Also said it will dispatch the same day that its due to be delivered (the slot is 7am - 9pm, so I guess there's time?)

so slight aside here... anyone looking at the HomePod mini?

been going all out in home automation this year and my biggest gripe was lack of support with HomeKit.

ended up going down the nest route for the thermostat, doorbell and cameras. also have the LG WX series (not opened yet!) which has better integration with google.

needed a mesh wifi as the new place is fairly large so again went for nest wifi which the access points double up smart speaker. collected a few mini's over the year too kids rooms.

only problem is I'm in the apple eco system for music so can't easily integrate with the speakers for that. tempted by a couple of HomePod minis as well in their rooms... maybe a tad over kill :D

Maybe get one of the employees to take a photo of you holding your new one before you give it back lol!

I have a feeling my order from apple will be coming by UK Mail as I recall my iPhone X was sent by them too, hoping to be proved wrong and hoping amazon don't cancel the other order at the last minute.

hell no.. just want my phone and I'm out of there!

do need to eye up cases, which reminds me to order one for pick up with my measly 5% corporate discount!

do like the intercom feature.

my son has been on at me to get him a phone, he'll get one next year so having the apple set up makes some sense at home.
Likewise wife has iphone and daughter who's 13 had a 6s and will be getting my wife's iPhone 11 for Christmas as she's getting the 12..so I think ecosystem wise it makes sense

We will be getting a couple.

We already have a couple of Homepods, which are mainly used as speakers (and very good they are), but we also use Hue lights almost everywhere so miss the ability to control them in certain rooms, so at the minis price we are going to stick some in other rooms as well.

I was playing around with intercom earlier in the week. At the moment it is just a way of annoying my son, but I think it could be a useful feature.

Got an email and notification from DPD. 🎉 2 iPhone pros will be delivered tomorrow. I'm in central London
I can't find a way to book an early slot with DPD but it still says: 'we're expecting your parcel shortly'. Hopefully this will change once they receive them.

Amazon echos can play your Apple Music sub.

I, where possible steer clear of the cloud services - I can't see why to turn on a light i have to send a signal to a server in china. Nearly all my home automation is now internally accessed (I have motion sensors, door sensors, lights, switches, even a laundry done sensor lol). All available through either Alexa (I know it is cloud) or Homekit. Off topic, but PM me if you want more details.

After ages of talking negotiating to EE on chat, I managed to get my current 10GB sharer contract which has 2 lines that automatically share data (not via crappy gifting!) that I was paying £20/month for, I got it reduced to £9/month for the next 24 months but with only 5GB of data.

As a light user (as we're on WIFI at home/work anyway) and in the past between both lines, we've used at most, less than half of the 10GB allowance we previously had, that's perfect!

I’m more excited that the new Borat films out tomorrow than I am about my iPhone getting delivered.
Same deal every year, unbox, restore from backup and after an hour or so look at it and feel underwhelmed as it’s just a phone.
I've had that the last couple of time. The backup/restore is so perfect that after an hour, it looks like your old device and you're just a grand poorer. Almost miss the 1990s :)
