Haha, every year I'm tempted to do that 😂😂 I tell you I will be doing that if it doesn't come tomorrow!
wasn't it the iPhone X release (or XS) that one chap got his carrier order notification and managed to go to the hub and collect the phone on the Thursday!

bet DPD got a good old kicking for that.

no idea but as per my earlier comments, don't do it.. people have been burnt by upgrading and then DPD not being able to fulfil.. given how busy they'll be tomorrow! then you have the hassle of getting your money back for it. just chill, wait, read the forums and it will turn up

What’s the issue with upgrading? Is it gonna come even later? I once did it (not an Apple order) and it didn’t come early but DPD refunded me the cost so it was ok.

Took my Apple screen protector off for a few days before my IUP. Have to say the screen feels much better with it off. Don’t like glad ones, this was one of the official Bellini ones.

Is anyone thinking, who goes on IUP or has AC+ not putting one on. The screen replacement is only £25 on AC+ so the cost of the screen protector. I’m thinking maybe might risk this year?

Oh yeah I remember that! I think that was when the X came out! Haha, I bet someone at DPD got a bollocking for that

so slight aside here... anyone looking at the HomePod mini?

been going all out in home automation this year and my biggest gripe was lack of support with HomeKit.

ended up going down the nest route for the thermostat, doorbell and cameras. also have the LG WX series (not opened yet!) which has better integration with google.

needed a mesh wifi as the new place is fairly large so again went for nest wifi which the access points double up smart speaker. collected a few mini's over the year too kids rooms.

only problem is I'm in the apple eco system for music so can't easily integrate with the speakers for that. tempted by a couple of HomePod minis as well in their rooms... maybe a tad over kill :D

I’m in the same boat. Lack of HomeKit support pushed me to Nest/Google.

My house is now kitted out with Nest cams, thermostat, Hello doorbell. I’ve got Google minis in every room and Sonos throughout the house.... but now I want a HomePod mini 😂😂

Incredibly my AO order from yesterday might turn up tomorrow, I am astonished - but just pisses me off Currys couldn't get stock

Do any of those tracking links work?

I ordered with them on the 17th with an original delivery date of the 23rd and was told by phone yesterday my order is delayed until next week. Despite that, DPD tracking links come and go and the number of phones I'm apparently receiving range from 1-3. According to their tracking page I currently have two phones arriving, one apparently today. No tracking links for either. I think their systems have imploded.

Going by DPDs performance lately in my area, I could be looking at a morning deleivery, before they changed the routes around we were some time in the afternoon

for the hassle of it turning up a few hours earlier? is it really worth it.. if there's a real pressing reason you need to ASAP you could try but I don't think DPD even offer it for them any more.

they'll have a predefined route worked out for their couriers, the maths and science that goes into making their route as optimal as possible is incredible really.. they won't be in a position to start driving all over town in different directions to get peoples phones to them at a certain time.

In my experience with AO just wait until you get the DPD notification/DPD email along the lines of ... your package from AO retail will be delivered .... and track that

Honestly, they really are not needed anymore, ive never used one since the 7+ and never had a single scratch on my screen, ive said this time and time again. The glass nowadays is super durable.

unless you literally get a knife and dig it into the screen you're not going to see anything at all. The phones always been in my pockets with keys, dropped every now and again and so on, all ive ever used is an apple leather case

I've never used one — never liked the look or feel. I also don't use a case (save for when I'm at the gym or in the car) — again, prefer the look & feel of the phone as is. Our joint account has insurance which is cheap enough for a repair/replacement that I've never felt the need for either.

exactly my situation. if I could use Apple Music on my nest/home minis then that would be fine. I'll get getting the Apple one when its available (actually might wait till my extended Apple TV sub expires in feb now) but the family are all in the ecosystem with phones, iPads Apple TV and Macs..

A knife would never scratch glass, sand however will, doesn't matter what the screen is made of.
