Yeah might be best to, but then again there might be some black Friday deals this year if you can hold out.

My phone says I get 5G in my home, but the speeds aren't faster than LTE 4G.
Are you actually on 5G? I think I read somewhere that you'll get the 5G symbol if 5G is available even if you're not actually connected via 5G.
Are you forcing the phone into 5G mode?

yes, that and £5 loyalty discount to bring the £28 unlimited tariff down to £18.40 (I think it is).

Okay, I’ll ask if I can get that £5 off. I’ve been with EE for 2 years only though..

Yes you need to set “Voice & Data” in mobile data settings to 5G On. If it is on 5G Auto then it switches between 4G and 5G depending on the needs but will always show 5G icon even if the phone is using 4G

Yep that what I done I went from 28 unlimited sim with student discount ask them on live chat to add the loyalty discount 5 pounds off again.. To £17.40

Changed my plan again using my 14 days cooling off period to 11 pounds 100gb 5G data.. :) 6 pounds savings.

Hardly using anything over 700mb data these days working at home.

Anyone managed to get 20% student discount applied to their plan over live chat? I have a code but live chat person refuses to add it and tells me to call 150.
Keep trying both advisors on live chat refusing to add my loyalty £5 discount on Monday tried again on Tuesday without any problems.

Mine works with a Mac Case but not with my cheapie case wallet with the Morphie QI
No problem with Customers in Apple Southampton, yesterday. Temp check outside, and you are in to browse. Also John Lewis Southampton now have a sort of Apple/Tech area in store similar to the apple store to browse and handle the gadgets. They had some 12/12pro display models

/wave for a fellow southampton person - are you allowed in to browse and touch /try the phones or specifically appointment only and no touching sort of thing? Really wanted to atleast see the pros in action before i preorder the pro Max?

I have no idea. Speedtest app thinks I’m on 5G. I’ve forced 5G on and there’s little difference. I’ll try outside like they suggested maybe I get better speeds then?

You need to set “Voice & Data” in mobile data settings to “5G On”. If it is on “5G Auto” then it switches between 4G and 5G depending on the needs (to save battery) but will always show 5G icon even if the phone is using 4G. This also means the SpeedTest app will show 5G as well. If you want to be 100% sure it’s 5G, turn that setting to “5G On”.

Is it easy to upgrade like if I find a good black Friday deal? I've only recently joined EE, they are the best in this area for 5G coverage. I've got the 100Gb of data for £20, but i'd love to get unlimited if possible because I can see me using 5G a lot if it is good round here!

Done

now I seem to be getting better speeds, albeit not as fast as others here, though I am inside

I think those are the same ones everyone with an upgrade got including me. I know some people here got good deals here with 100 or 200 GB and 5G for £16-20 using discounts and loyalty. I went for that £28 unlimited data offer with a 20% discount code to bring it down to £22.40 and I’m going to try and get it down even further if I can with £5 off off loyalty. Otherwise I’ll stick to the £22.40.

I managed to do exactly what you described.

First I upgraded online and went for the unlimited data + 1 benefit for £28 (24 month). A couple of day afterwards I went into the EE chat and told them that I forgot to add my employers perk 20% discount code and they happily added it without any challenges. Then today I went again on the EE chat and told them that I called the customer service a couple of day ago (which I didn't) and explained that I was told they would add £5 loyalty discount because I have been a couple of years now with EE. I actually told them that I had this before (which I didn't) and I could see this discount on my add ons etc, but the representative probably forgot to add it in. I also gave them the detailed breakdown of the cost of what I was ''told'' I would have after all the discounts (i.e 28 - 28*20% - 5 = £17.40). They had a look on my accounts and the person in the chat said ''yes I can see a loyalty discount can be offered for you''. So they applied it straight away!

Honestly having Unlimited data, BT Sport (as benefit), 5G for £17.40 from EE is a bargain!!! :D

Done. Got 20% student discount and £5 loyalty discount and now my 5G unlimited monthly plan costs £17/month from £28/month. Awesome!
Did you simply ask them to add it? What was your way of getting them to add it? I’ve tried 3 times now and been told no even though I know it’s possible.

I'm still waiting on the Pro Max but I'll remember that when I get the phone and wonder why the speeds aren't there.

I'm the same. I'd like to see an iPhone 12 Pro before ordering the Pro Max.

Maybe. Give it a try and let us know

my first message was basically asking if they could add my studentbeans discount code to my plan and the advisor said yes and did a security check and then 2-3 mins later it was applied. I checked the EE app immediately and it was there. I then asked if I could get a £5 loyalty discount because I know friends who have it and I’ve been with EE for a few years and the advisor said to wait for a few mins and then said he asked his supervisor who agreed to it and it has now been applied as well. It doesn’t show up on the EE app yet but let’s see!

It should show under your add on’s in the my EE app.

Any opinion on silicon cases? I like the plum one, but coming from leather apple cases since iPhone 6, i don’t like how it feels on my hand since yesterday. I am thinking to return it for a leather one once they come out... thoughts?
