Does anyone know what G means where the signal normally says 4G?

The G is for Generation. Not to be confused with GigaHertz (GHz) for 2.4G and 5G Wi-fi Networks.

My 12 Pro PB 128GB is week 38 (September). I pre-ordered mine within 2-3 mins of pre-order going live so maybe that’s why I got an early stock!

My 12 is yet to be delivered but I found out my device's week as 38 too from the serial number on the invoice. Do you have any issues with your device?

Interesting info about use of Smart Data Mode to help save battery life & the new Qualcomm X55 modem used with impact on 5G/4G speeds.

The Qualcomm X60 in iPhone 13 is meant to blow the X55 away. Doesn’t use as much battery for one.

Autofocus on close objects doesn’t work properly in my limited testing. I think it’s a software bug so will test again with 14.2 when it comes out.

I think operators can denote it differently.

The support document says it’s denoted as GPRS in the status bar, but I’d imagine it’s shortened to G as that’s quite a long icon.

So then ... to 12Pro from 11Pro Max. It arrived Monday and I love it! Got used to the smaller form factor easily and also realised that the text is the same size as on my old ProMax, it just used to show more of the page.
I realised that the battery life is less than the ProMax but as I’m shielding a lot of the time that doesn‘t matter at this point! Found a really nice battery pack on Amazon though https://www.amazon.co.uk/iWALK-Wireless-Portable-Compatible-more，black/dp/B08CDJ2LF1 .. simple and lightweight solution.
It was going to be ridiculous to consider the 12ProMax just because I wanted better battery life when nothing else is significantly ‘better’!
In other news I sent my 11ProMax to ReBuy yesterday and have had notification that they’re checking it now. For anyone wondering it’s definitely worth putting ‘as new’ as the option as I’m assuming I’ll get offered a lot more than the ‘it works’ price even though it’s not pristine, we’ll see! .. £677 as new .. Music Magpie were only offering £600 and would have had to go to the Post Office (Covid times not ideal) with it!

Keep us informed if you don’t mind. I sent an iPhone X off to ReBuy myself today having put it down in the “As New” category. Looks pretty immaculate to me but we’ll see.

I came across others facing problems with autofocus on close objects too. Probably a software bug. Where was yours manufactured? Mine was in Foxconn's Chengdu.

I genuinely can’t think of a way - even if I trade in my 12 somehow of getting a pro max

You should still have 14 day cooling off period. Maybe worth moving the number to PAYG and then order a max. It’s a long time to go with a phone you not happy with.

However you won’t be £40 better off buying a max. This will surely reduce if you take the phone from EE.

After using the 256gb iPhone 12 pro I got for £850 from Amazon for a few days, I sold it for £990.

I figure if I do miss it enough (not gonna lie, I am missing it at the moment! But battery life was the main reason for giving it up), I can get a 128gb for £920 in a few weeks time (when Very has them in stock with their cashback offer) and hopefully sell my 11 pro for £550-600, making the upgrade cost only £180-£230 but we’ll see.

If you return it and reverse your upgrade, EE will give you the same discounts on the Pro Max - you just have to ask.

Are very doing cash back on Apple devices. They don’t normally allow cash back offers against them.

Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of getting a smaller phone in the first part. That wireless battery pack adds more bulk to the phone. In which case you might as well get a Pro Max. 🤔
