Thanks to someone on Reddit uploading this template to the web. Hubby 3D printed this charging stand.

It great just to use as a stand to watch videos even when not charging since you can use portrait or landscape.

A question for anyone that pre-ordered a few weeks ago using the iOS Apple Store app after having got pre-approval for the Barclays finance option.

I got my pre-authorisation last night for a 12 mini. In the app now on the 'For You' tab, there is a section at the top that says "You're ready to pre-order...... View approval".

When the pre-orders go live at 1pm on Friday, where do I actually go, i.e. do I come to this section on the 'For You' tab, or do I just go through the purchase process like normal (i.e. the main 'Shop' tab, select my phone etc)?

I know every second counts so just checking! Hopefully someone did this same method with the previous pre-orders and can tell me their experience 🙂

I have mine approved and the for you tab section looks like where you’d go to finalise the purchase.

We’ve already selected our phone and locked in payment, going via the shop page doesn’t make sense.

When I did this for my 12 as soon as I opened the app a page appeared and I just had to hit "checkout" or something, maybe "buy" (can't remember) then it was all added to my basket and I pressed "pay" (maybe it was order? haha).

Was all done within 10-20 seconds.

Don't pay anything up front, it's 24 equal payments, first one is 30 days after your phone is delivered from memory.

OK thanks. So no card details etc to put in when you pre-order? I usually use Apple Pay when payment is required.

Nah nothing, you would have done all that when you set up the finance, like I said you literally just add your phone combo to basket then checkout.

I paid extra for the larger screen on the mini and apple car play completely fills it , hopefully Mercedes can do something with it too.

The merc screen has massive black borders because it’s only a certain size so it doesn’t look very good. But I think it does look better then the circular mini screen if that is still like that.

Ah OK, thanks. Do I presume that means theres no option to get it delivered to somewhere other than your billing address? I usually get things delivered to my work, but obviously I had to put my home address in the Barclays pre-authorisation bit

Been using wireless CarPlay since my BMW since 3 years now and I love it. I have to warn you tho, CarPlay looks hideous AF on mercs dashboard. It looked so bad on the a45 which has the same screen setup.

The new mercs have two 10.5 or 12.5 inch wide screens. I think the A45 has 10.5 inch screens. I haven't seen CarPlay on the new MBUX as yet. Might youtube it.

When the app (eventually) loaded, I was prompted to check out. 2 clicks and it was done.

My advice would be make sure you 100% know what colour and size you want as seconds matter!

I'm not 100% as I didn't need to have it delivered anywhere else but I don't seem to remember seeing the option to change the delivery address, it uses all the info from your Barclays application.

At the moment you can't. It'll be a wait until they reopen in December.
That said someone posted a few pages back that Apple are apparently trying to find a way around it. I guess stay tuned and fingers crossed they get a solution

This is my plan unless they announce it’s possible to do iUP.

I think it should be fine - a box comes up when I add the phone to trade in, saying I’ll still be responsible for the Barclays loan. Remember iUP is a wrapper for a Barclays loan (that covers the cost of the device and AppleCare+). So you can do what you want with the phone at any point - you’re just on the hook for its value.

Best to check with Barclays - but I would be surprised if another credit check was done - as I'm guessing they assign a maximum credit limit on the initial check, so any future application (at least in near term) would simply be checked against that limit.
