I’ve actually taken the day off from work so it can’t interfere with my preorder process. I’ll be at home with the App Store open on my iPhone and iPad as well as their web site on my laptop. I’m most likely going to get the 512GB Pacific Blue Pro Max.
The nature of my job means I pretty much have to be there when I’m called in, so I thought this might happen.. Already saved the one I want in my favourites and I’ll hope for the best at the right moment! Got my card details and address dialled into the app already so that should make it significantly quicker

Still not 100% sure if I should upgrade or not, but got pre-approval for a 12 Pro Max 128GB anyway.

Currently rocking a 64GB X. Got it in March 2018 for £850 iirc, so it's around 2.5 years old (3 year old hardware however) & it's randomly crashing when under somewhat heavy use (switching between several apps, FaceTime, Snapchat etc). Also sometimes happens when I plug my phone in at night, mount to a wireless charger during the day or plug into CarPlay.

Performance-wise, it's an absolute trooper and doesn't feel slow at all. Battery life is not great however.

I like to keep my phones for at least 3 years. I kept my iPhone 4 for 4 years & iPhone 6 for 3.5 years (I did replace parts in both of these several times). My iPhone X could be the shortest one yet.

To be fair if you want us to change your mind - you may be in the wrong place ;)

iOS 14 definitely killed the X, it was running sweetly before. Had the battery replaced last Christmas and it’s already gone again. Seeing a lot of lag when switching apps especially now.

Haha, very good point!

Part of me is thinking that a replacement battery in my X would solve the restarting issues. It feels like it can't keep up with CPU demands and just shutting off. At least got a couple of days to decide.

If you’re in England, good luck getting an Apple Store appointment this calendar year..the replacement battery solved some issues for me temporarily when I had it done at Christmas but if you’re a heavy user the degradation will soon have an effect again.

EE esim has arrived ready......

Pre approved this morning for a 12 Pro Max in Gold. Still a little uncertain about switching to Max so definitely pleased to have the generous Apple return policy to be able to try it out for size as it were. No doubts on the colour though.....I don't think 😂

Only issue is that I transferred my personal sim to the e-sim on my 11 Pro recently so I could use same phone for personal and work. I presume that means I need to order a new e-sim which is a faff if I decide not to keep the 12 Pro Max. So I guess I just use my work sim in the new one to trial it.

is it still 14 days to book a return and then 14 days to return it ?

Standard Returns Policy

Returns can be arranged via our online Order Status website in one single step.
Returns are subject to Apple's Sales and Refunds Policy. You can indicate your intent to return within 14 days of receiving your product. You have a further 14 days after indicating your intent to return to then return your products or arrange for their collection. Software returns are also accepted within this period, but only if the software was not unsealed. This option is in addition to your consumer rights to return defective products. Click here for more details and check “What happens if I have received a defective item” below.
If you do wish to return your order, or just certain items from it, please use our online Self Service website or contact us. Make sure you provide the following details:
  • Your Web Order Number.
  • The full address from where we can collect the goods.
  • A contact phone number
On receipt of your email, we will provide you with a Return Material Authorisation (RMA) number. Indicating this number clearly on the packaging of the goods you are returning will help ensure that your returns are processed quickly.
Please visit Section 6 of our terms and conditions for comprehensive information about what items can be returned.
Please visit our Step-by-Step Guide to learn more about returns.

Still got a 13 day wait for my Pacific Blue 12 Pro.

I ordered on the 23rd October but took advantage of a very generous friends and family discount from a mate who works for the company. I was hoping they would be able to get it to me before the 16th Nov.

Have people's phones from Apple being pretty much bang on the arrival date, or is that a worst case scenario placeholder?

It seems to be a worst case scenario thing .. I was due mine on 2nd November, it arrived 27th October! .. unfortunately the replacement one isn’t coming until November 24th so I’m really hoping they’re wrong with the dates!!

Fingers crossed, my MagSafe is about to be shipped which was targeting 5th Nov-12th Nov but could be different with phones and that colour seems the be the most popular.

Slightly off-topic but I bought the Kindle Oasis a few months back and its worth every penny, love it.

Some hope for iUP customers....
Staff are unhappy that Apple seem to be putting profit before safety?

When the first lockdown happened they were the first company that shut their stores and provided their staff full pay before any furlough payments were mentioned by the government. Apple looked after their staff very well.

Yeah, it could just be a select few though. If it's COVID-Secure and click and collect then Apple are just following the Gov Rules...

Staff might be unhappy working through lockdown but some have no choice myself included with being classed as key workers. If they follow the guidelines and rules it shouldn’t be an issue. There safety rules are top notch compared to other retail stores

Wouldn't they want to work though as surely those staff won't carry on getting paid?

well they can either be furloughed for 80% pay or go to work and get full pay. i don't think they are going to be any less safe when its purely a kiosk sort of pickup area and i presume they will not need all the staff in to run that - so perhaps the ones who are less keen to go in will not be going in anyway. :)

Doesn’t Apple’s extended returns period generally kick in during November ? Pretty sure I returned an iPhone 7 Plus, back in the day, as late as early Jan (purchased Nov).

Sorry if this has already been asked, looked through the last few pages. Anyone know if the pre-approval is a soft or hard credit check? Already on the IUP programme...

Is that the choice Apple employees are being given ? ..... I was under the impression Apple hadn’t used the Furlough scheme but could be wrong.
