When I went to do it, the app wouldn’t let me do click and collect (he’d confirmed about 10 mins previous they had them in stock)
Did you try the self-checkout function in the app where you scan the barcode on the accessory and it lets you pay for it there and then in the app with Apple Pay then just walk out with it?

They wouldn’t let me in the shop without an appointment.

To be fair, there was probably a way round it but didn’t have the time to hang about!

I don't think it should have stopped you buying in-store. I'm assuming this was an Apple store. Lockdown doesn't kick in until midnight so until the store is open today you can pay for items in-store.
Maybe it was a technical issue.

EDIT: Looks like all stores have stopped pickup on the wallet, so they have probably stopped it a little earlier in case people pay and then can't pick up in time.

Yeah it was an apple store. I think they only hold products for a week once you pay for them so that’s probably why!

Unfortunately we have a confusing situation where they say you can click and collect from nonessential retail, but they also say you should only be going out shopping for essential items e.g. food and medicine. So how can you collect from nonessential retail if you're only allowed to go out to shop for essentials? Typical lack of joined-up thinking there again.

As I've mentioned a few pages back, this isn't the lockdown we had back in March. This is how it works:

Supermarkets and other essential shops are staying open. You can walk in and shop, pay your money and walk out.

You can also click & collect at ANY store in England that CHOOSES to open during the 4 weeks to collect any pre-paid items. But this is at the discretion of the store whether they do this or not. You cannot pay for your items on the premises. I don't know how many non-essential stores will stay open for click and collect during the lockdown but all standalone Argos stores are staying open (for c&c only) for example.

The reason for this is that they want to reduce the browsing shoppers as much as possible, the ones that have a look around because they are bored-types.

This seen this on Twitter. I’ve asked if he obtained this information from Apple (via official channels) but he’s not replied

Update - Just seen another tweet of his which mentions he was told this by an “internal retail contact”

What’s the advantage of the upgrade programme as opposed to the 24 month interest free finance option? Is it just that Apple will take the phone back for an upgrade after 10 (is it?) months?

The advantage is one of convenience (ironic given current circumstances) and knowing where you stand with payments if you want to upgrade.

there is no financial benefit.

Took delivery of my ‘Graphite’ iPhone 12 Pro from EE today and I must say what an upgrade it is on my trusty iPhone XS. It’s speedy, decent on the battery and the camera looks very good too. It looks very good indeed so far. Direct transfer also worked like a dream! Nice one, Apple!
I haven't yet commented on the colour fo my graphite 12 Pro 128GB.

It is slightly darker than I had expected. But it is now in a Snakehive Teal newbuck folio case. The teal colour goes well with the graphite - and the inner fold of the case is grey and I am happy.

Pacific Blue would have clashed horribly.

The Snakehive case is decent but a bit thinker than, for example, Nomo cases from the past. The combination of the 12 Pro and the case is significantly larger than my 6s in a Spigen bumper case. But I am happy because changes in my life mean that isn't an issue. It looks as if it would give quite some protection in case of a drop.

And I agree the setup was almost trivial. A few settings don't go across (Here We Go was left on default USA voice. Sending me round traffic circles instead of roundabouts!) . Some downloads were required. And I still have an issue with my Microsoft Authenticator app (which will probably be easy to solve when I try).

One real annoyance. Here We Go no longer honours 180 degree rotation - only 90. I found 180 was very helpful as the Lightning plug is then at the top. (I often drop it into my cup holder.)

whats the best way to order from JL and will they not go up for sale until the 13th? They have extended returns until Jan and I’m buying as a christmas present (and Apple haven’t said if/when they’re extending)

Quick question .. is anyone seeing the 12Pro for sale online anywhere that can deliver before mid November? Getting desperate here as I’m stuck with hubby’s old and smashed up iPhone 6S!
I’ve checked everywhere I can think of but wondered if I’m missing anywhere! .. John Lewis had a note up yesterday saying they were getting them in stock on the 13th so will try that if nothing else.

Ao.com appear to have gold 512gb models in stock.

Anyone with detailed expertise of rebuy? How long do they hold the price for? I was able to push my dpd collection back a week. Can I push back another week?

They should have preorder from Friday same as other retailers.
